When Ludwig Goes On Manoeuvres
''When Ludwig Goes on Manoeuvres'' (German: ''Wenn Ludwig ins Manöver zieht'') is a 1967 West German historical comedy film directed by Werner Jacobs, starring Hansi Kraus as Ludwig Thoma, Heidelinde Weis and Rudolf Rhomberg. The script was provided by producer Franz Seitz who chose his pen name "Georg Laforet" for the credits. Besides many well-known actors of the day, the film also features Zlatko Čajkovski, 1967's trainer of FC Bayern Munich, his goal-getter Gerd Müller and his goalkeeper Sepp Maier. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Wolf Englert and Bruno Monden. It was shot in Eastmancolor. Plot The Prussian Army comes to Bavaria for a military exercise. They show off and try to demonstrate superiority. Yet they don't stand a chance because they are not prepared to tackle Ludwig's nifty pranks. Georg Thomalla (14 February 1915 – 25 August 1999) was a German actor. He appeared in about one hundred fifty film and television productions between 1939 and 2000 and was widely known in Germany for his comedic roles. Thomalla was well known in Germany as a voiceover artist, dubbing particularly comedians, such as Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau in the ''Pink Panther'' movies, and he was the standard German dubbing voice of Jack Lemmon from 1955 to 1998. Thomalla dubbed Lemmon as the second musician in ''Some Like It Hot'', after having himself played the same role in the German comedy ''Fanfares of Love'' (1951), the direct predecessor to ''Some Like It Hot''. Hubert "Hubsi" von Meyerinck (23 August 1896 – 13 May 1971) was a German film actor. He appeared in more than 280 films between 1921 and 1970. Biography Meyerinck was born in Potsdam, Brandenburg, the son of Friedrich von Meyerinck (1858–1928), Hauptmann (Captain) in the Prussian Army. He grew up at his family's estates in the Province of Posen and attended the gymnasium secondary school in Godeberg. Having passed his Abitur exams, he was called up for military service as a cadet in World War I, but soon was dismissed due to a pulmonary disease. In 1917 he gave his debut as a theatre actor at the Schauspielhaus in Berlin and from 1918 to 1920 continued his career at the Hamburg Kammerspiele.
