Wheeler, Alabama
Wheeler (also known as Wheeler Station) is an unincorporated community in Lawrence County, Alabama, United States. Wheeler had a post office at one time, but it no longer exists. Wheeler has two sites on the National Register of Historic Places, the Tidewater-type cottage known as Bride's Hill and the former home of Joseph Wheeler, Pond Spring. Demographics Wheeler Station appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census as an unincorporated community of 114 residents. This was the only time it appeared on census records. Wheeler Lake
Wheeler Lake is located in the northern part of the state of Alabama in the United States, between Rogersville and Huntsville. Created by Wheeler Dam along the Tennessee River, it stretches from Wheeler Dam to Guntersville Dam. It is Alabama's second largest lake at , and only a few hundred acres smaller than the largest lake in Alabama, Guntersville Lake, which is and is separated by the Guntersville dam from the lake. Decatur operates the busiest port along the Tennessee River on this lake, Port of Decatur. Wheeler Lake is a major recreation and tourist center, attracting about four million visits a year. Along with camping, boating, and fishing, visitors enjoy the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge several miles upstream from the dam. The lake and dam are named for General Joseph "Joe" Wheeler. The island was originally named after English commandant Lieutenant Hugh Wheeler. On 4 September 2015, the island was renamed to honour the late Indian president, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Wheelers Bay
Wheelers Bay is a small bay on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It lies to the east of Ventnor. It faces south-east towards the English Channel, its shoreline is in length. A section of the bay, to the side of the slipway, is used as dry-storage for boats; in recent years this has been targeted by thieves. The bay is home to an open-air café known as ''The Seapot''. The bay is accessed by a concrete slope from the road above the bay or by walking along the seawall either from Ventnor or Horseshoe Bay. The Isle of Wight Coastal Path runs the length of the bay along the seawall. Wheeler Island is one of the middle islands of the Family Islands group within the locality of Dunk in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland. Australia. It is located approximately 15 km East of Tully Heads. The Aboriginal name for this island is ''Toolgbar''. Wheeler Island is believed to be named after Lieutenant F.S. Wheeler who was a Royal Navy hydrographer officer on the survey vessel HMS Paluma from 1885 to 1888. Other islands in the group are named after other officers on the Paluma. Cape Wheeler () is an abrupt rock scarp rising to 460 metres, an Antarctic headland which forms the north side of the entrance to Wright Inlet on the east coast of Palmer Land. Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge
The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is a 35,000 acre (142 km2) National Wildlife Refuge located along the Tennessee River near Decatur, Alabama. Named after Major General Joseph Wheeler, it was established to provide a habitat for wintering and migrating birds in the eastern United States. Of the 35,000 acres (142 km2) of the refuge, about 4,085 acres (16.5 km2) are located within Redstone Arsenal. Approximately 1,500 acres (6 km2) of the Redstone Arsenal land is administered by the Marshall Space Flight Center. The facility has a sixteen-person staff with a $1,694,000 annual budget.
