"What You Leave Behind" is the series finale of the television show '' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'', the 175th and 176th episodes, the 25th and 26th episodes of the seventh season. The episode was written by showrunner Ira Steven Behr and Hans Beimler and directed by Allan Kroeker. It originally aired the week of May 31, 1999. The finale sees the end of the long-running plot arc of the Dominion War, and the fulfillment of protagonist Benjamin Sisko's destiny as "Emissary of the Prophets". Marc Alaimo
Marc Alaimo (born Michael Joseph Alaimo; May 5, 1942) is an American actor, known for his villainous roles. He is best known for his role as recurring villain Gul Dukat in the TV series ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine''. Career Alaimo is a classically trained theatre actor, and performed as part of the Marquette University Players and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in the 1960s in everything from Shakespeare and the classics to world premiere productions. He was also a member of various theatre companies in New York and touring companies across the country before making the move to Los Angeles in 1973. Some of his theatrical roles include Iago in ''Othello'', Rodolpho in Arthur Miller's ''A View From the Bridge'' and Lucky in Samuel Beckett's '' Waiting for Godot''. Alaimo has been playing characters in television shows since 1971. Gul Dukat
Dukat is a fictional character from the television series ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine''. A member of the fictional Cardassian species, he is introduced as the former overseer of the series' namesake space station but goes on to become the leader of his species' governing body, the Cardassian Union. At times an enemy while at others an ally of Benjamin Sisko, Dukat appears in 35 of the series' 176 episodes. He was portrayed by Marc Alaimo throughout. Dukat became a fan favorite among Star Trek fans and he is widely considered to be one of the most iconic villains in the ''Star Trek'' franchise.
