''What Happens in Aldershot Stays in Aldershot'' is an hour-long documentary film that follows the band Reuben on tour, in the studio and at work for three months, trying to portray what it's like to be in an underground British rock band in this day and age. Also included on the double disc DVD is a full recording of the band's show at London's Mean Fiddler on 27 April 2006, all of the video diaries from the making of the third album and a few hidden extras. The DVD was sold at their February 2007 tour, and was originally only available on the Hideous Recordwebsiteand in several independent music stores across the country. Reuben (band)
Reuben were an English three-piece musical group from Camberley, Surrey. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single " Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single " Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. The band performed in the UK underground music scene. Although they attracted a significant fanbase, Reuben never achieved mainstream success, but did chart four songs in the UK Singles Chart. Their highest charting single was 2004's " Freddy Kreuger", that reached UK No. 53. In June 2008, Reuben entered a state of indefinite hiatus. Mean Fiddler
The Astoria 2, subsequently known as the LA2 then the Mean Fiddler, was a nightclub at 165 Charing Cross Road in London, England. History The venue was originally a ballroom in the basement of the London Astoria theatre and connected by stairways, so that the two venues could function as a single venue when needed. Like the Astoria, the venue was used for live music as well as night club promotions. At one point the venue was called Bang and was a gay nightclub. A venue also called Mean Fiddler was previously set up in Harlesden, north west London in 1982. In June 2006, the Mean Fiddler was sold — together with the London Astoria — to property group Derwent Valley Central, who planned to convert the site into a combination of shops and offices. In Nothing We Trust
''In Nothing We Trust'' is Reuben's third studio album, released on 25 June 2007. It was mastered in February 2007 by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Engerica, Helmet) in New York. The album was recorded, produced and mixed at Livingstone Studios in London and Soul Valley Studios in Wimbledon by Sean Genockey (Engerica, Smother) with additional engineering by Ed Woods (credited as Edrin Piece). The band uploaded short videos on YouTube for each day in the recording studio. These videos are on the band's DVD, ''What Happens in Aldershot Stays in Aldershot'', and can also be seen on YouTube. Background The album was the first to be released on Reuben's self-run label, Hideous Records. On 29 March 2007, the band revealed the first single from the album will be titled, " Blood, Bunny, Larkhall", due for release a week prior to the album.
