Weststadt (Osnabrück District)
Weststadt (west city) is a district of the city of Osnabrück with around 9,000 residents. It is located to the west of the Innenstadt (Osnabrück district), Innenstadt (city centre) district, on which it borders along with the districts of Westerberg (Osnabrück district), Westerberg, Wüste and Hellern. The Katharinenviertel makes up the eastern part of the district; with its buildings from the Gründerzeit (late 19th century period of industrialisation), green areas, traffic-free zones and cycle lanes, it is a surprisingly quiet, green zone situated between the major roads of Lotter Straße to the north and Martinistraße to the south. The convenient location of the district between the main sites of the city's University of Osnabrück, university and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, applied sciences college have long made the Weststadt home to many student flats. Innenstadt (Osnabrück District)
The Innenstadt (city centre) is the central district of the city of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony, Germany; its population is roughly 8,300. The Innenstadt comprises the medieval Altstadt (old town) and Neustadt (new town), which were united in 1306. The Altstadt developed around the town's three medieval churches, which initially constituted small parishes in the local area: the Lutheran St. Mary's Church, Osnabrück, Kirche St. Marien (Church of St. Mary), the Lutheran Kirche St. Katharinen (Church of St. Catherine) and the St. Peter's Cathedral (Osnabrück), Dom St. Peter (St. Peter's Cathedral), which was the seat of the bishop. The Neustadt developed around the Kirche St. Johann (Church of St. John). Today the Gymnasialkirche and the Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Church of the Sacred Heart) are also part of the Innenstadt, as well as two mosques. Westerberg (Osnabrück District)
Westerberg is a district of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany, with roughly 8,700 residents. It is situated in the west of the city between Lotter Straße and Pagenstecherstraße. The districts bordering it are Eversburg, Hafen, Sonnenhügel, Innenstadt, Weststadt, Hellern and Atter. The border with Atter passes through the Rubbenbruchsee, part of a large local recreation area. As well as parts of the University of Osnabrück and the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, the Klinikum Osnabrück (Osnabrück Clinical Centre) and the Paracelsus clinic are also located in Westerberg. Wüste
Wüste is a district of the city of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany. With almost 14,000 residents it is the most populous district of Osnabruck. It is made up of the two subdivisions “''Vordere Wüste''” and “''Hintere Wüste''” (Wüste Superior and Wüste Inferior). Its central location and good infrastructure make it an appealing residential area. Geography Wüste is located to the southwest of the city centre, in a valley between Kalkhügel and Westerberg. Martinistraße and Blumenhaller Weg form the district's border with the Weststadt district, located to the north. Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Osnabrück, formerly ''Fachhochschule Osnabrück'') is a university of applied science in Lower Saxony, whose administrative centre is in Osnabrück. It has existed in its current form since 2003, having originally opened in 1971. Some of its departments can be traced back to engineering schools and other colleges operating as early as the 1950s.
