Westport United F.C.
Westport United F.C. is an Irish association football club based in Westport, County Mayo. Founded in 1911, it is one of the oldest association football clubs in both County Mayo and Connacht. They currently play in the Mayo Association Football League. They have previously played in the Connacht Senior League. Westport United came to national prominence after winning the 2004–05 FAI Junior Cup and playing in the 2005 FAI Cup. Terence Morris Browne, 9th Marquess of Sligo (28 September 1873 – 28 July 1952) was an Irish peer who succeeded to the title upon the death of his older brother, Arthur Browne, 8th Marquess of Sligo. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans. It was originally known as the "North European Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation", but the geographical reference was dropped as its membership from other regions grew. Fanad (official name: Fánaid) is a peninsula that lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay on the north coast of County Donegal, Ireland. The origins of the name Fanad are lost in time thought there is some speculation that the name derives from an old Gaelic word Fana for "sloping ground". It is also referred to as Fannet or Fannett in older records. There are an estimated 700 people living in Fanad and 30% Irish speakers. Fanad encompasses the parishes of Clondavaddog, Killygarvan and parts of Tullyfern and Aughinish. It measures approximately 25 km north–south measured from Fanad Head to the town of Ramelton and approximately 12 km east–west measured between the townlands of Doaghbeg and Glinsk. Buckley Park
Buckley Park is a multi-purpose stadium on the Callan Road ( N76), near Kilkenny, Ireland. Kilkenny City (formerly EMFA) purchased of land from a local farmer by the name of Mick Murphy for £16,000. The ground was originally called Tenney Park. It is currently used for football matches by Women's National League club Kilkenny United WFC and was previously the home stadium of Kilkenny City A.F.C. Buckley Park has hosted many junior international soccer games. The ground is named in honour of Marty Buckley, the first president of EMFA / City . Connacht Senior Cup is an association football cup competition organised by the Connacht Football Association. This cup competition should not be confused with the more regularly played Connacht Junior Cup which has effectively been the top level competition for non-League of Ireland clubs when the Senior Cup has been inactive. History Connacht Senior League Between 1981 and 1982 and 1999–2000, when the Connacht Senior League, was active the Connacht Senior Cup featured the members of the CSL and the champions of four junior leagues based in the province – the Galway & District League, the Sligo-Leitrim League, the Mayo Association Football League and the Roscommon & District League. Salthill () is a seaside area in the City of Galway in the west of Ireland. Lying within the townland of Lenaboy (''an Léana Buí''), it attracts many tourists all year round. There is a 2 km long promenade, locally known as ''the Prom'', overlooking Galway Bay with bars, restaurants and hotels. Tourism and events Salthill was, until 2007, home to one of the biggest non-fee paying air shows in Galway, the Salthill Air Show, which took place in June over Galway Bay. The show annually attracted over 100,000 people and generated over €1m in revenue. The 1970s saw the introduction of a number of casinos and more leisure centres. Salthill was a centre point for the 2008–09 Volvo Ocean Race, as well as the Round-Ireland Powerboat race in 2010.
