Westland School is a progressive, independent, private, coeducational, nonsectarian elementary day school located in the Bel Air community of Los Angeles, California, serving students from kindergarten through sixth grade. The school is located on Mulholland Drive across from the Bel Air Presbyterian Church. Westland is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) through 2016. History When Westland opened in 1949 it was the first progressive school on the West Coast, operating under the educational philosophy of John Dewey. One of the founders was child psychologist Marie H. Briehl. Students were encouraged to explore their subjects hands-on and were taken on numerous field trips to learn about the world firsthand. Westlands School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Sittingbourne in the English county of Kent. Previously a foundation school administered by Kent County Council, Westlands School converted to academy status on 1 September 2010. Westland High School is a public high school located in Galloway, Ohio. It is one of 4 high schools in the South-Western City Schools District. SWCS is located in the southwestern portion of Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio. Westland High School was opened in 1970. History Founding In 1969, Pleasant View Junior/Senior High School became a middle school when the newly built, Westland High School was constructed due to the need for more space to meet population growth in the Southwest Columbus region. Current Building In the 2011–2012 school year, the building received minor renovations to lighting systems and a new ventilation system was put into place after an incident at the school. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is a public school district that serves Montgomery County, Maryland. With 210 schools, it is the largest school district in the state of Maryland. For the 2022–2023 school year, the district has 13,994 teachers, 86.4 percent of whom had a master’s degree or equivalent, serving 160,554 students at its 210 schools. The Spires College
The Spires College is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Devon town of Torquay, England. It is a bilateral school, with places for children who reach the required standard in the 11+ test and for those who do not take the test or do not reach the required standard. There is also specialist unit for students with hearing Impairment. The school is located in the Plainmoor district of Torquay. History In 1973 Westhill Secondary School and Homelands Technical High School, the latter being an all-boys school, joined to form Westlands School.
