Westerplatte (film)
''Westerplatte'' or ''Westerplatte Resists'' (Pl. ''Westerplatte broni się nadal'') is a 1967 Polish historical film directed by Stanisław Różewicz. It was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Silver Prize. The story is based upon the Battle of Westerplatte in September 1939. Cast * Zygmunt Hübner as Maj. Stanisław Różewicz
Stanisław Roch Różewicz (16 August 1924 – 9 November 2008) was a Polish film director and screenwriter. He directed 26 films between 1947 and 1989. His 1967 film ''Westerplatte'' was entered into the 5th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Silver Prize. His 1985 film '' Woman in a Hat'' was entered into the 14th Moscow International Film Festival where it won the Silver Prize. He was a younger brother of Polish poet, dramatist and writer Tadeusz Różewicz. Karl Henke
Karl Henke (22 July 1896 in Berlin – 27 April 1945 in Neutief) was an engineer officer in the ''Reichsheer'' during World War I, in the German inter-war army, the ''Reichswehr'', and in the ''Wehrmacht''. Military service, World War I Henke's military service began in 1914 as a cadet with a pioneer battalion. He was promoted to officer in 1915, but in 1916 was seriously wounded and unable to return to frontline service. Posted to Libau, he became involved in developing landing operations, an area in which he specialised for the remainder of his career. Continuing to serve with the ''Reichswehr'' and then the ''Wehrmacht'', by 1939 Henke had been promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel. Kazimierz Rasiński
Kazimierz (; la, Casimiria; yi, קוזמיר, Kuzimyr) is a historical district of Kraków and Kraków Old Town, Poland. From its inception in the 14th century to the early 19th century, Kazimierz was an independent city, a royal city of the Crown of the Polish Kingdom, located south of the Old Town of Kraków, separated from it by a branch of the Vistula river. For many centuries, Kazimierz was a place where ethnic Polish and Jewish cultures coexisted and intermingled. The northeastern part of the district was historically Jewish.
