Western Flyers
The Western Flyers were a New Zealand netball team which represented most of the Central, Southern and Eastern North Island in the National Bank Cup. The team was formed in 1998 and played all ten seasons of the competition. At the end of the 2007, the Flyers merged with the Capital Shakers to form the Central Pulse, one of five New Zealand teams in the ANZ Championship, which commenced in 2008. Franchise The Flyers franchise was based in New Plymouth, Whanganui, Napier and Palmerston North. The franchise recently amalgamated the Eastern Netball Region (which is an amalgamation of Napier, Hastings, Gisborne, Wairoa, Central Hawke's Bay and Dannevirke Netball). New Plymouth
New Plymouth ( mi, Ngāmotu) is the major city of the Taranaki region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is named after the English city of Plymouth, Devon from where the first English settlers to New Plymouth migrated. Amber Bellringer
Amber Bellringer (born 5 June 1990 in Taranaki, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball player. Bellringer played in the National Bank Cup for the Western Flyers in 2006 and 2007. The North Island, also officially named Te Ika-a-Māui, is one of the two main islands of New Zealand, separated from the larger but much less populous South Island by the Cook Strait. Brooke Amber Williams
Brooke Amber Williams (born 23 December 1982) is a New Zealand netball player who plays as a centre and wing attack. She has represented Samoa internationally as part of the Samoa national netball team. She is married to rugby league player Sione Lousi. Williams played for the Western Flyers in the National Bank Cup. In 2019, she moved to Townsville, Australia, with her partner, Sione Lousi, and began playing for the Northern Rays in the HART Sapphire Series. Williams was part of the Samaon team for the 2007 World Netball Championships in Auckland, and later for the 2015 Netball World Cup. Lauren Burgess
Lauren Burgess (born 24 November 1986 in New Plymouth, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She plays in the Centre position for the Manawatu Cyclones, and for New Zealand's national women's sevens team. Rugby union career Her transition back to rugby was with the Stratford club, after they decided to field a team in the Manawatu club competition. It didn't take long for her talent to be recognised - she was selected in the Manawatu rep side as a midfielder before a back injury sidelined her for the season.
