West Virginia Route 93
West Virginia Route 93 is an east–west state highway located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. WV 93 runs from U.S. Route 48 and West Virginia Route 32 in Davis in Tucker County to U.S. Route 220 near Keyser in Mineral County. Route description The western terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 32 in Davis, Tucker County. WV 93 passes by the Mount Storm Lake near Mount Storm. WV 93 then runs concurrent with West Virginia Route 42 upon descending the Allegheny Front. Under the current plans for Corridor H, WV 93 would be directly upgraded to a four-lane divided highway between Davis ( WV 32) and Bismarck (west of WV 42). Claysville Church is located at the intersection of the Northwestern Turnpike (now US 50) and WV 93 in Claysville, West Virginia, United States. Claysville Church was built in 1850 under the direction of Daniel Hendrickson and John Fout, local contractor and fund solicitor, as a church of the Virginia Conference of the United Brethren Church. Both Union and Confederate soldiers used the church for services during the Civil War. The ''Cumberland Times-News'' is a five-day morning daily newspaper serving Cumberland, Maryland, United States, and the surrounding areas of Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland, and Mineral County in West Virginia. The paper, which has existed under various titles, dates back to the early 19th century. In addition to its Cumberland headquarters, the newspaper maintained satellite bureaus in Frostburg and McHenry, Maryland, and in Keyser, West Virginia. The last of these, the Keyser bureau, closed in March 2009 in order to cut costs for the newspaper. West Virginia Route 972
West Virginia Route 972 was a short north–south state highway in Mineral County, West Virginia. It was decommissioned in July 2017, becoming an extension of WV 93. The route connected U.S. Route 220 to U.S. Route 50 in the New Creek Valley. New Creek, West Virginia, the only populated place on the route, is located midway between US 50 and US 220. Route 972 was the highest numbered road in the state of West Virginia. Prior to 1972, WV 972 was part of US 220. In 1972, US 220 was moved to its present alignment east of New Creek. The southern terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 28 and West Virginia Route 55 in Petersburg. Corridor H
U.S. Route 48 (US 48), also known as the incomplete Corridor H of the Appalachian Development Highway System, extends from Interstate 79 (I-79) in Weston, West Virginia, eastward across the crest of the Allegheny Mountains to I-81 in Strasburg, Virginia. It is planned to extend from northwestern Virginia to central West Virginia. The route is planned as a four-lane divided highway and has been constructed in segments, most of which are open. The westernmost portion from Weston to Lorentz was constructed in the 1970s; the extension east to Elkins was constructed in the early 1990s, and the segment between Davis and Wardensville was constructed in segments which opened during 2002–2016.
