West Virginia's 10th Senate District
West Virginia's 10th Senate district is one of 17 districts in the West Virginia Senate. It is currently represented by and Republicans Jack Woodrum and Vince Deeds. All districts in the West Virginia Senate elect two members to staggered four-year terms. Geography District 10 covers all of Fayette, Greenbrier, Monroe, and Summers Counties in Southern West Virginia. Communities within the district include Alderson, Hinton, Lewisburg, Ronceverte, White Sulphur Springs, Rainelle, Fairlea, Montgomery, Mount Hope, Oak Hill, Ansted, and Fayetteville. The district is located entirely within West Virginia's 3rd congressional district, and overlaps with the 28th, 32nd, 41st, and 42nd districts of the West Virginia House of Delegates. White Sulphur Springs is a city in Greenbrier County in southeastern West Virginia, United States. The population was 2,231 at the 2020 census. The city emblem consists of five dandelion flowers and the citizens celebrate spring with an annual Dandelion Festival. The 2020 West Virginia Senate elections were held on November 3, 2020, as part of the biennial United States elections. Seventeen of the 34 West Virginia state senators stood for election. Stephen Baldwin (politician)
Stephen Baldwin Jr. is a former Democratic member of the West Virginia Senate, representing the 10th district from 2016 to 2022. During the 85th Legislature, Baldwin served as the Senate Minority Leader. Baldwin was the third Minority Leader since the Republicans took the majority in the Senate in 2014. Prior to his appointment to the State Senate, Baldwin represented the 42nd District in the West Virginia House of Delegates, and was a member of the Greenbrier County Board of Education. In 2022, Baldwin lost re-election to Vince Deeds, becoming one of only two state legislative leaders to lose re-election in 2022. West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District
West Virginia's 3rd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in southern West Virginia. The district covers the state's second-largest city, Huntington; includes Bluefield, Princeton, and Beckley; and has a long history of coal mining (especially in the southwestern counties), forestry, and farming. The district is currently represented by Republican Carol Miller. However, because West Virginia lost a congressional seat in the 2020 census, it will be eliminated in 2023. On October 22, 2021, Governor Jim Justice signed the new congressional map plans into law. Under the plan, all of the current 3rd will be part of the new 1st. Fayetteville, West Virginia
Fayetteville is a town in and the county seat of Fayette County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 2,892 at the 2010 census. Fayetteville was listed as one of the 2006 "Top 10 Coolest Small Towns in America" by Budget Travel Magazine, and as "Best River Town 2013" by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine. Ansted is a town in Fayette County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. The population was 1,404 at the 2010 census. Oak Hill is a city in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States and is the primary city within the Oak Hill, WV Micropolitan Statistical Area.
