West Silvertown DLR Station
West Silvertown is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Silvertown which opened in December 2005. It is located on the Woolwich Arsenal branch. Trains run Westbound to Bank in the City of London and Eastbound to Woolwich Arsenal, passing through London City Airport station. The station is in the London Borough of Newham and is located in Travelcard Zone 3. History Prior to December 2005, Docklands Light Railway trains would arrive at Canning Town and would only be able to continue in a South-Easterly direction towards Royal Victoria. In December 2005, however, the new King George V branch was opened. Design The station (like most Docklands Light Railway stations) is elevated and can be reached from street level by stairs or a lift. Location The station is situated close to the site of Lyle Park, and was set up to serve Britannia Village and the proposed new development at Peruvian Wharf. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system serving the redeveloped Docklands area of London, England and provides a direct connection between London's two major financial districts, Canary Wharf and the City of London. First opened on 31 August 1987, the DLR has been extended multiple times, giving a total route length of . Lines now reach north to Stratford, south to Lewisham, west to and in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport and Woolwich Arsenal. Silvertown is a district in the London Borough of Newham, in east London, England. It lies on the north bank of the Thames and was historically part of the parishes of West Ham and East Ham, hundred of Becontree, and the historic county of Essex. Silvertown Tunnel
The Silvertown Tunnel is a road tunnel under construction beneath the River Thames between the Greenwich Peninsula and west Silvertown. It is being promoted by Transport for London and will be delivered through a design, build, finance and maintain contract by the Riverlinx consortium. The tunnel is intended to reduce congestion through the Blackwall Tunnel and both tunnels will be Toll roads in Great Britain, tolled when it opens in 2025. The contract for construction was awarded in November 2019. The tunnel will include dedicated lanes for heavy goods vehicles and buses, but it will not be accessible to walkers or cyclists. All future bus routes that will use the tunnel will be zero emission. Thames Wharf is a planned Docklands Light Railway station in the Royal Docks, East London. The station name was previously proposed for another station in the area. Beckton branch station In 1994 the proposed location was between and , adjacent to the Limmo Peninsula. Pontoon Dock is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in Silvertown in east London, which is on the Woolwich Arsenal branch, opened on 2 December 2005. It is located in the east of Silvertown in the London Borough of Newham, in the redevelopment zone known as Silvertown Quays, and is in Travelcard Zone 3.
