Caruthers High School
Caruthers () is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 2,497 at the 2010 census, up from 2,103 at the 2000 census. Caruthers is located south of downtown Fresno, at an elevation of 246 feet (75 m). Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all of it land. History The first post office in Caruthers opened in 1891. The name of the town honors W.A. Caruthers, a local farmer. Fresno County Public Library opened a branch in Caruthers in 1911, in the town's hotel. Minarets High School
Minarets High School is the first high school built in the Chawanakee Unified School District. The school's official first year of operation was in August 2008 with 27 9th graders in the Pilot Program. The school moved onto the new campus in September 2009 with 135 9th and 10th graders. In the fall of 2010, there were 290 9th, 10th and 11th graders. The school colors are purple and gold, and the mascot is a Mustang. Minarets is a 21st Century High School, a one-to-one laptop and project-based school. All students are issued MacBooks and may also bring a laptop of any type, if they wish. Minarets has two primary Career Pathways - Ag and Natural Resources, as well as Arts, Media and Entertainment. Minarets achieved WASC accreditation in July 2010. Minarets students scored very well on the 2009/10 California state testing. Orosi High School
Orosi High School is a public high school in Orosi, California, in the Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District. History The Orosi High School District was organized in 1909 by Frances E. Snell. Grammar and high school classes were held in the same building, with high school occupying the upstairs portion and one downstairs room. The first class was made up of twenty-nine freshmen, two sophomores, and one junior. Frances Snell taught mathematics, history, and English while Louise Duncan was in charge of the commercial department and Latin. By 1911, the high school was distinct from the grammar school, but remained in the same building. In 1912, Orosi High School's first class graduated. Two students made up the graduating class. That same year, a new site for the school was purchased on Road 128 (formerly Palm Avenue). Temporary buildings were put up to accommodate the students.
