West Mountain (Hamilton County, New York)
West Mountain is a mountain located in Adirondack Mountains of New York. It is located in the northwest of the hamlet of Raquette Lake in Hamilton County. In 1920, the Conservation Commission built a fire lookout tower on the mountain. Due to aerial detection, the tower ceased fire lookout operations at the end of the 1970 season. The tower was later removed, and portions of the tower along with the tower from Kempshall Mountain were used to build the tower that is at the Essex County Historical Museum in Elizabethtown. West Mountain (ski Area)
West Mountain is a ski area located in Queensbury, New York, just outside the Adirondack Park on West Mountain Road (CR58). In the summer and fall, West Mountain offers Aerial Tree Top Adventure Tours, Mountain Biking (downhill and cross-country), scenic chairlift rides and hikes, full-service dining (limited hours) with dinner and date night packages and available for wedding and special event bookings. In the winter, West Mountain contains 30 ski trails ranging in difficulty from easy green trails to more advanced black diamond trails and some glades. There is also a tubing park near the Main Lodge, containing six 700-foot chutes and four 1000-foot chutes. West Mountain has 100% snowmaking and has replaced all its old chairlifts with newer quad and triple chairlifts. The West Mountain Historic District is a historic district northwest of the center of Ridgefield, Connecticut in Fairfield County, Connecticut that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It includes 12 contributing buildings. It is roughly centered on the junction of West Mountain Road and Oreneca Road, between Ridgefield center and the state line. It includes five large country estates developed in the early 20th century. West Mountain is a mountain in Utah, United States that is located southwest of the city of Provo, and west of the community of Benjamin. It is home to a radio station tower for KTCE, an FM station licensed to Payson and operating on 92.1 MHz. The mountain is also home to various FM radio translators and an observatory used by students from Brigham Young University (BYU). It can be accessed from a main road that starts near Benjamin. West Mountain is a census-designated place (CDP) in Utah County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Provo–Orem Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 1,186. The town is at the base of West Mountain (site of the West Mountain Observatory) and bears its name. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and 0.09% is water. Smith Mountain, , is a prominent peak in the Taconic Mountains of western Massachusetts, USA. The mountain is located in Pittsfield State Forest and is traversed by the multi-use Taconic Skyline Trail. Mount West () is a somewhat isolated mountain 9 nautical miles (17 km) southeast of Mount Woodward, surmounting the ice-covered ridge between Hammond and Swope Glaciers, in the Ford Ranges of Marie Byrd Land. The Mountain West Conference (MW) is one of the collegiate athletic conferences affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) (formerly I-A). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Geographically, the MW covers a broad expanse of the Western United States, with member schools located in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Craig Thompson has served as Commissioner of the MW since October 15, 1998; Gloria Nevarez will take over the post on January 1, 2023 after Thompson's retirement.
