West Monroe High School
West Monroe High School is a high school in West Monroe, Louisiana, United States. It is administered by the Ouachita Parish School Board. WMHS is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school's mascot is The Rebel Man. History In 2013, 87 percent of WMHS students who took the Advanced Placement test passed the examination, the highest rate in the state. Four thousand more students in Louisiana took the 2013 exam compared to the number doing so in 2012, the largest increase in participation of any state. Louisiana students taking the exam earned a collective 5,144 college credits, an increase of 25 percent over 2012. In 2017 Andre Perry, previously the founding dean of the urban education division of Davenport University, wrote an article published in '' The Hechinger Report'' which criticized West Monroe for continuing to use the rebel mascot. Ouachita Parish School Board
Ouachita Parish School Board is a school district headquartered in Monroe, Louisiana, United States. The district serves Ouachita Parish except for areas within the City of Monroe; those areas are instead served by the Monroe City School System. Neal Lane "Lanny" Johnson, the superintendent for the Franklin Parish School Board in Winnsboro is a former superintendent in Ouachita Parish. Johnson also served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1976-1980. He was defeated in a bid for the State Senate in the 1979 nonpartisan blanket primary. Dan Richey, then of Ferriday, won the seat after Johnson, a Democrat, was eliminated in the primary. A fullback (FB) is a position in the offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back. Haley Hayden (born June 19, 1995) is an American former collegiate softball player. She played college softball for Louisiana. Career She attended West Monroe High School and she later attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette playing as a first baseman and outfielder, while playing for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team. Roderick Green (born March 16, 1979) is a paralympic athlete from the United States competing mainly in category T44 sprint events. Roderick has competed in two Paralympics, firstly in 2000 where he won a silver in the 200m and bronze in both the 400m and long jump but could not help the American T46 relay team to a medal. His second games were in 2004 where despite competing in the 100m long jump and shot put he was unable to add to his tally of medals. When Green was born he had no right ankle or fibula; his leg was amputated below the knee at age two.
