West London Institute Of Higher Education
The West London Institute of Higher Education (WLIHE), a two-campus academic establishment, was located in Isleworth and East Twickenham, West London, UK from 1976 until 1995 when it became Brunel University College. In 1997 it was fully integrated into Brunel University. Establishment West London Institute was created in 1976 from the merger of Borough Road and Maria Grey teacher training colleges and Chiswick Polytechnic. Borough Road College, on the Osterley campus, dated back to 1889 in that location and to 1798 in its previous home on Borough Road in Southwark. As a College of Higher Education from 1976, West London received funding from the local government, and it had to perform adequately in the higher education sector. Brunel University
Brunel University London is a public research university located in the Uxbridge area of London, England. It was founded in 1966 and named after the Victorian engineer and pioneer of the Industrial Revolution, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In June 1966, Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded a royal charter and became Brunel University. The university is often described as a British plate glass university. Brunel is organised into three colleges, a structure adopted in August 2014 which also changed the university's name to Brunel University London. John Mallet
John William Mallet FRS (10 October 1832 – 7 November 1912) was an Irish chemist who lived and worked in the United States. Biography John William Mallet was born near Dublin to Robert Mallet and Cordelia Mallet (Watson). Robert Mallet was a civil engineer and a fellow of the Royal Society and other societies and had an ample scientific library which his son had explored. Before entering college, John was attending private lessons in chemistry and at the age of 17 was admitted to Trinity College Dublin, where he obtained the degree Bachelor of Arts in 1853. During his college years, Mallet assisted his father in seismological studies, received a gold medal in experimental physics, and published a paper on "Chemical examination of Killiney" in 1849, just after entering college. Alex King (rugby Union)
Alexander David King (born 17 January 1975) is a rugby union footballer who played at fly-half for ASM Clermont Auvergne and formerly Wasps. In July 2020 it was announced King will be the attack coach at Gloucester Rugby. King attended Brighton College and Bristol University but started his rugby career with Hove. He has been capped by England and the Barbarians. The former Rosslyn Park player joined Wasps in 1996 and helped them win the League that year. Ben Johnston (rugby Union)
Ben Johnston (born 8 November 1978 in Clatterbridge, Bebington, Merseyside) is an English rugby union footballer who currently coaches and occasionally plays at centre for Old Georgians R.F.C. in Surrey Counties League. Johnston started his professional career at Saracens in 1998. His form in his first couple of seasons led to selection for the Tour of South Africa in 2000. Paul Honeyford
Paul Honeyford (born Manchester, 1958) is an English biographer and writer who has worked on a number of music- and sport- related works. He has often worked with Dave Heaven, a musician, on a variety of musical and design projects. Honeyford's biography of Paul Weller's band The Jam (''The Modern World By Numbers'') was the first such biography, written in consultation with the band at a time when they were at the peak of their success. Other works include ''Michael Jackson: The Golden Touch'' and ''Harrison Ford: A Biography''. Patricia Ann Hodge, OBE (born 29 September 1946) is an English actor. Richard Anthony Hill (born 23 May 1973) is a former rugby union footballer who played as a flanker for Saracens and England. Dave Heaven
David Andrew Rhys Heaven (born Uplawmoor, 1959) is a Welsh-descended musician of some renown with a focus on smooth jazz and fusion. Songs such as Midnight Dean Street, Do It Again and Moonflower brought him to the attention of guitarist Pete Downes who invited him to play with PD3, a jazz group with significant and growing support. He has produced a number of albums and singles and in addition is a regular contributor to Red, a South London rock group. Heaven performs the unusual trick of playing guitar left-handed by simply inverting a right-handed guitar. This has led to a distinct tonal style which, coupled with a rare understanding of jazz harmonics, casts him as a guitarist of some significance.
