West Kerry is a Divisional Gaelic football team in Kerry. In 1924 the county convention of Kerry County Board agreed to setting up divisional boards to promote Gaelic football and hurling in Kerry. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. Aodán Mac Gearailt
Aodán Mac Gearailt is a footballer from County Kerry. He played with An Ghaeltacht and the Kerry teams in the 1990s and 2000s, winning County Championships in 2001 and 2003 he also won a Munster Club Championship in 2003 and played in the 2004 All Ireland Club Final but ended up on the losing side. He joined Cork side Ballygarvan in 2009 but returned to An Ghaeltacht after only one year with the Cork side. He won an All Ireland Senior Football Championship in 2000 with Kerry. Diarmuid Murphy
Diarmuid Murphy (born 22 August 1975 in Dingle, County Kerry) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for his local club Dingle and was the goalkeeper at senior level on the Kerry county football team from 2004 until 2009. In August 2010 it was announced that Murphy would join the Kerry management as a selector under coach Jack O'Connor. Playing career Under 21 Murphy was part of the Kerry Under 21 team in 1994 but lost out to Cork in the Munster championship. He was still underage in 1995. He played no part in the Munster championship winning campaign, but returned to the team for the All-Ireland semi-final with Donegal that Kerry won. Murphy was the team's captain for the All-Ireland final with Mayo. The game ended in a 2-12 to 3-09 draw, Kerry won the re-play 3-10 to 1-12 to give Murphy an All-Ireland title as captain. Paul Geaney
Paul Geaney (born 27 November 1990) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Dingle and at senior level for the Kerry county team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career Geaney first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Dingle club. He joined the club's senior team in 2007 and won a Kerry Club Championship title in 2015. Geaney first lined out at inter-county level as captain of the Kerry minor team that won the Munster Minor Championship in 2008. After an unsuccessful two-year tenure with the Kerry under-21 team, he was drafted onto the Kerry senior football team during the 2011 league. Bill Dillon (1 June 1905 – 23 May 1979) was an Irish people, Irish sportsperson. Fintan Ashe (born 1970 in Dingle, County Kerry) is an Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Dingle and was the Kerry inter-county team at all levels during the late 1980s and 1990s. He won an All-Ireland minor medal in 1988.
