West Hills, Baltimore
West Hills is a neighborhood in the Southwest District of Baltimore, located between the neighborhoods of Westgate (south), Franklintown (north) and Hunting Ridge (east). Its boundaries are drawn by the Baltimore County line (west), Baltimore National Pike (south) and North Franklintown Road (north). Its eastern boundary follows Cooks Lane from Baltimore National Pike, then Briarclift Road and finally Wynans Way to the intersection with N. Franklintown Road. Demographics Its population, as of the 2010 census, was more than 75 percent black. The median household income of $35,557 in West Hills for 2010 was a close match to the citywide median of $39,113. However, the neighborhood's residents fared somewhat better, with 13.8 percent living on incomes below the poverty level, compared with 22.7 percent citywide. Maryland Route 122 (MD 122) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Security Boulevard and Cooks Lane, the state highway runs from Rolling Road east to the Baltimore city limit within the western Baltimore County suburb of Woodlawn. MD 122 serves the headquarters of the Social Security Administration and connects the agency with Interstate 70 (I-70), I-695, and U.S. Route 40 (US 40). Security Boulevard was constructed in 1960 concurrent with the completion of the Social Security Administration's new headquarters. Eastpoint Mall is a one-level regional enclosed shopping center located in Baltimore County. Eastpoint Mall was one of Baltimore’s first shopping centers and has been serving the community since 1956. Eastpoint Mall is anchored by JCPenney, Burlington, Gabe's, and Value City Furniture. The Mall features over 120 specialty shops, restaurants, and services including Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, AT&T Wireless, Shoe City, Chick-fil-A, The Children’s Place, McDonald's, Shoe Show, Cricket Wireless, and Rue21. Catonsville, Maryland
Catonsville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. The population was 41,567 at the 2010 census. The community lies to the west of Baltimore along the city's border. Catonsville contains the majority of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a major public research university with close to 14,000 students. History Before European colonists settled in present-day Catonsville, the area was occupied by the Piscataway tribe or the Susquehannocks. Rolling Road was used to transport tobacco south from plantations to the Patapsco River on horse-drawn wagons. Route 23 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore and its suburbs. The line currently runs from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Catonsville, Maryland east through downtown Baltimore to the Fox Ridge community in Essex, serving the corridors of Edmondson Avenue on the west side and Eastern Avenue on the east, and the communities of Edmondson Village, Allendale, Rosemont, Patterson Park, and Eastpoint, and is one of the most heavily used bus routes operated by the MTA. The bus route is the successor to the 14 Ellicott City, 23 Back and Middle Rivers, and East Fayette Street streetcar lines. Security Square Mall
Security Square Mall is a mall in Woodlawn, Baltimore County, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore, in the United States. The mall features over 100 stores and restaurants, as well as a food court. One section of the mall, Grand Village Plaza (formerly JCPenney), previously included Korean shops and restaurants; however, most of these establishments had closed by 2010. Westview Mall
Westview Mall is a shopping mall located in Catonsville, Maryland, United States. The mall originally opened in 1958 as an outdoor strip mall, but was later converted into an indoor shopping center. The original anchors were Hutzler's and Stewart's. Other tenants included Food Fair and G. C. Murphy. Stewart's became Caldor in 1983 and Hutzler's was sold to Hochschild-Kohn. By 1990, the mall had 80 stores. In 2002, the mall returned to its original outdoor status, when the indoor section, which had largely failed, was converted into big box stores such as Sam's Club and Marshalls, while Lowe's occupies the space where Stewart's had been. Edmondson Village, Baltimore
Edmondson Village is a neighborhood in the southwestern section of Baltimore, Maryland, encompassing most of the Edmondson Avenue corridor in 21229. The Edmondson Village area is made up of several smaller communities. Its communities include Hunting Ridge, Uplands, Rognel Heights, Wildwood, West Mulberry, Allendale, Edgewood, and Lower Edmondson Village. The line currently runs from Security Square Mall east through downtown Baltimore to Baltimore City Hall.
