West Genesee Central School District
The West Genesee Central School District (WGCSD) is a public school district located in suburban Syracuse, NY. The district covers and is centered in the town of Camillus, but also serves parts of Elbridge, Geddes, Onondaga, and Van Buren. Student enrollment as of the 2012-2013 academic year is 4,740. The district has 815 employees, 438 of which are academic professionals. 98% of students graduating in 2014 earned a Regents Diploma. Administration The district offices are located adjacent to Stonehedge Elementary at 300 Sanderson Drive in Camillus. The Superintendent of schools is David C. Bills. Mike Burns is the Athletic Director and William Davern is the Director of Fine Arts. Board of education The Board of Education has nine members elected to three year terms who serve without pay. Onondaga, New York
Onondaga is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States encompassing 65 square miles. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the town had a population of 22,937. The town is named after the native Onondaga tribe, part of the Iroquois Confederacy. Onondaga was incorporated April 2, 1798 and is located southwest of the city of Syracuse, which it borders. The town is named after then-Senator Martin Van Buren, who would later become the eighth president of the United States. Geddes, New York
Geddes is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 17,118 at the 2010 census. The Town of Geddes is west of the neighborhood of Far Westside of Syracuse. The town is a western suburb of Syracuse. History The town was formed from the Town of Salina in 1848. It is named after James Geddes, a prominent early settler who settled at the head of Onondaga Lake in 1794 and developed the salt industry. There also was an Old Geddes Village which included part of the west side of Syracuse and Tipperary Hill, the village square being located near St. Mark's Circle.
