West End, Sheffield
The West End is a loosely defined area of Sheffield, consisting of part of the City Centre, in addition to some of the western suburbs. The term has been in use for at least 150 years. Modern usage In 2007, Sheffield City Council attempted to define the area as a part of the Connect Sheffield Scheme, and included the Devonshire and St George's Quarters, which are bound to the west and south-west by the ring road as well as the University Campus, which spans the ring road. The result is that today, the West End primarily refers to the area alongside Glossop Road and Western Bank, rising up to Broomhill. It hosts the Sheffield Children's Hospital, and the former Central Sheffield University Hospitals, that is the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (and its Jessop Wing), Weston Park Hospital and the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital (now a part of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). City Of Sheffield
The City of Sheffield is a city and metropolitan borough in South Yorkshire, England. The metropolitan borough includes the administrative centre of Sheffield, the town of Stocksbridge and larger village of Chapeltown and part of the Peak District. It has a population of 584,853 (mid-2019 est), making it technically the third largest city in England by population behind Birmingham and Leeds, since London is not considered a single entity. It is governed by Sheffield City Council. The current city boundaries were set on 1 April 1974 by the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, as part a reform of local government in England. Broomhill, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Broomhill and Sharrow Vale — which includes the districts of Broomhill, Broomhall, Crookesmoor, Endcliffe, Sharrow Vale and Tapton Hill — is one of the 28 electoral wards in City of Sheffield, England. The ward was created following the 2015 local government boundary review out of parts of the old Broomhill, Central and Nether Edge wards. It is located in the western part of the city. The population of the Broomhill ward in 2011 was 16,966 people in 5,708 households, covering an area of 2.7 km2. The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS foundation trust in Sheffield, England. Charles Clifford Dental Hospital
The Charles Clifford Dental Hospital is a major dental facility in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is managed by the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and affiliated with the University of Sheffield. History The hospital has its origins in the Dental Department of the Sheffield Royal Hospital which was established in 1897. The facilities at the Dental Department became cramped and so Colonel Sir Charles Clifford, who had commanded 126 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, donated land for a new purpose-built facility and funding for dental equipment in 1935. Weston Park Hospital
Weston Park Hospital is a health facility specialising in the treatment of cancer in Broomhill, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is managed by the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in the Sheffield Radium Fund, which was established in 1914. The fund was used to create the Radium Centre in 1930 and subsequently the Sheffield National Centre for Radiotherapy in 1945. Weston Park Hospital was officially opened in April 1970. The Sheffield Children's Hospital is a healthcare facility for children in Broomhill, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is managed by the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital first opened on 15 November 1876 as a children's infirmary in Brightmore House, on Brook Hill in Sheffield. South Yorkshire is a ceremonial and metropolitan county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. Sheffield Inner Ring Road
Sheffield Inner Ring Road is a dual-carriageway circling central Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Marked up as the A61 all the way around, it was built from the 1960s onwards. The Ring Road connects to the Sheffield Parkway, which itself connects with the M1 motorway. Many of Sheffield's current and under construction major office premises and luxury apartments are located on the Ring Road.
