West Chester Golden Rams Baseball
The West Chester Golden Rams baseball program represents West Chester University of Pennsylvania in baseball. The Golden Rams compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Led by head coach Jad Prachniak, the Golden Rams claimed their first national championship in his first year, 2012. In 2017, West Chester claimed their second title. The Golden Rams play their home games at Serpico Stadium, named after Neil Serpico, a former head coach. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. The conference was originally formed in 1951 as the State Teachers Conference, and was temporarily named the Pennsylvania State Teachers College Conference in 1956 before being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 1964. The conference is currently composed of 17 full-time members within Pennsylvania and 1 in West Virginia. The conference headquarters are located in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and staffed by a commissioner, two assistant commissioners, and a director of media relations. West Chester, Pennsylvania
West Chester is a borough and the county seat of Chester County, Pennsylvania. Located within the Philadelphia metropolitan area, the borough had a population of 18,461 at the 2010 census. Jad Prachniak
Jad Prachinak (born August 5, 1981) is a baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the North Alabama Lions. He played college baseball at Rhode Island from 2001 to 2004. He served as the head coach of the West Chester Golden Rams (2012–2020). Playing career Prachniak grew up in Lincoln, Rhode Island, where he attended Lincoln High School, where he was a letterwinner for the Lions in baseball. Prachniak would go on to pitch for the Rams, bouncing back and forth between the rotation and bullpen. He made 14 starts for the Rams, pitching to a 4–5 win–loss record with a 6.04 earned run average. Coaching career Prachniak began his coaching career immediately following his playing career. He served as a volunteer assistant for Rhode Island as well as the pitching coach for The Prout School, while finishing up his degree in 2005. The 1895 National League baseball season was the Philadelphia Phillies' third season as a team and their first training at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. Preseason The Phillies held spring training in 1895 in Hampton, Virginia at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers where the team roomed at the Home's private hotel, and trained and played exhibition games at the Hampton Soldiers' Home athletic grounds located 300 yards from the team hotel.
