West Carleton Secondary School
West Carleton Secondary School is a secondary school situated in the rural west end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school is under the jurisdiction of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. Expansions and renovations The secondary school received a significant addition in February 2018, adding room for an additional 250 students with new classrooms and specialty rooms, including a new dance room and gym. Construction began in the summer of 2017 was completed in early 2018. The addition was estimated to cost approximately 7.8 million dollars, and in total added; nine classrooms (including one classroom dedicated to science & technologies studies), two new arts classrooms, a new gymnasium including a gender-neutral washroom and change rooms, and department offices for teachers. Samantha Jean Lardner Cornett, (born February 4, 1991) is a retired professional squash player who represents Canada. She is from Deep River, Ontario. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 23 in February 2018. She has won 4 Canadian National Championships, in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2019. Corey Johnson (born April 19, 1996) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. He played college basketball for Harvard University. College career Johnson began his college career at Harvard. After entering the university, Johnson spent the 2015–16 basketball season competing for the Crimson. During his freshman year, he helped lead the Crimson to a 14–16 record, 6–8 in Ivy League play to finish in fourth place. Johnson averaged 9.8 points with a .398 three-point field goal percentage; and, he also set a Harvard freshman record with 74 3-pointers in 2015-16, the third-most in program history. Cameron Smedley
Cameron "Cam" Smedley (born October 9, 1990) is a Canadian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2006. Smedley competes as a member of the Canadian National Whitewater Slalom Team. He competes in the C1 class (single boat Canadian canoe). Until 2015 he also competed in C2 (pair boat Canadian canoe) with his partner Ben Hayward. Biography Smedley was born to James Smedley and Sherri Audet. He has an older sister Alison and a younger brother Liam, who is also a member of the canoe slalom national team. He took up canoeing as a child following his parents and started competing aged 13. Todd White (born May 21, 1975) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. As a hockey player, he played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, Atlanta Thrashers and New York Rangers.
