Werner Spies
Werner Spies (born 1 April 1937 in Tübingen) is a German art historian, journalist and exhibition organizer. From 1997 to 2000, he was a director of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Klaus Albrecht Schröder, director of the Albertina in Vienna, has called Spies "one of the most influential art historians of the 20th century." Life and work In his youth, Spies worked as a writer of feuilletons for German newspapers. He studied art history, philosophy and French literature at the universities of Vienna, Tübingen and Paris. He completed his PhD thesis and Habilitationsschrift, both in the history of arts, at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He has lived in Paris since 1960. From 1975 to 2002 he was a professor of the history of arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. He also writes articles for the ''Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung''. Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste in München (Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts) is an association of renowned personalities in Munich, Bavaria. It was founded by the Free State of Bavaria in 1948, continuing a tradition established in 1808 by the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich. Michael Krüger (writer)
Michael Krüger (born 9 December 1943, in Wittgendorf) is a German writer, publisher and translator. Michael Krüger grew up in Berlin. After the graduating he was apprenticed to a publisher and later studied philosophy and literature. From 1962 to 1965 he worked as a bookseller in London. From 1968 Krüger has worked as an editor at the publishing house Carl Hanser Verlag, and was its editor-in-chief from 1986 to 2014. In 1972 he published his first poems, with his first collection, ''Reginapoly'', appearing in 1976 and his first collection of stories ''Was tun: Eine altmodische Geschichte'' (What shall we do: An old-fashioned story) in 1984. Several stories, novels and translations followed. His work has garnered many important accolades including the 1986 Toucan Prize and the 1996 Prix Médicis étranger. Aldo Crommelynck (26 December 1931 – 22 December 2008) was a Belgian master printmaker who made intaglio prints in collaboration with many important European and American artists of the 20th century. At the time of his death, The Guardian termed Crommelynck the ' pre-eminent' and 'the most celebrated printmaker of the second half of the 20th century.' Family Crommelinck was born in Monaco. His father was the Belgian playwright Fernand Crommelynck (1886–1970) and his mother was Anne Marie Le Tellier (1886–1970). They had four sons: Jean, Aldo, Piero (1934–2001), and Milan. The Kunsthalle Bremen is an art museum in Bremen, Germany. It is located close to the Bremen Old Town on the "Culture Mile" (german: Kulturmeile).
