Wentworthville Railway Station
Wentworthville railway station is located on the Main Western line, serving the Sydney suburb of Wentworthville. It is served by Sydney Trains T1 Western and T5 Cumberland line services. History Wentworthville station opened in 1883 as TR Smiths Platform, being renamed Wentworthville on 1 August 1885. The station was rebuilt in the 1940s when the Main Western line was quadrupled. In 2015, work commenced on an upgrade to the station. Like the neighbouring stations at Pendle Hill and Toongabbie. The upgrade included a new footbridge, concourse and lifts as part of the Station Accessibility Upgrade Program and was completed in 2018. Wentworthville is a suburb in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Wentworthville is located 27 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Wentworthville is split between the local government areas of the City of Parramatta and the Cumberland Council. Wentworthville is colloquially known as 'Wenty'. History Wentworthville, Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains and, Wentworth in far western New South Wales, were named after the Wentworth family. A land grant of 2000 acres (8 km2) in this area was made in 1810 to D'Arcy Wentworth, the father of William Wentworth, the famous Australian explorer, barrister, newspaper publisher, politician and landowner. Richmond railway station is the heritage-listed terminus railway station of the Richmond line, serving the Sydney suburb of Richmond, in New South Wales, Australia. Merrylands Railway Station
Merrylands railway station is located on the Main South line, serving the Sydney suburb of Merrylands. It is served by Sydney Trains T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland line services. History Merrylands station opened on 6 July 1878. In 1969, the Merrylands Road level crossing to the south of the station was replaced by the Mombri Street overpass to the north. In 1972, the signal box at Merrylands closed with operations transferred to Granville signal box. On 2 November 1996, the Merrylands to Harris Park Y-Link opened allowing direct train operation between these two stations by what is now known as the Cumberland Line.
