Wendy Macpherson
Wendy Macpherson is an American ten-pin bowler. She was born on January 28, 1968, in Walnut Creek, California, and currently lives in Henderson, Nevada. Macpherson captured 20 career titles on the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour and Professional Women's Bowling Association Tour before the tours folded in the fall of 2003 and was a four-time Bowling Writers Association of America Female Bowler of the Year. She is the all-time leader in career PWBA earnings ($1,232,910 U.S.). She also holds the record for highest earnings in a single PWBA season, with $165,425 in 1997. Macpherson won her first pro title at age 18 in the U.S. Women's Open, while she was still a high school senior. This made her the youngest PWBA Tour titlist ever, a distinction that stood until 2021, when 17-year old Jillian Martin won a PWBA Tour title. Ten-pin bowling is a type of bowling in which a bowler rolls a bowling ball down a wood or synthetic lane toward ten pins positioned evenly in four rows in an equilateral triangle. The objective is to knock down all ten pins on the first roll of the ball (a strike), or failing that, on the second roll (a spare). An approximately long ''approach'' area used by the bowler to impart speed and apply rotation to the ball ends in a ''foul line''. Professional Women's Bowling Association
The Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) organizes and oversees a series of annual tournaments for the top competitive women ten-pin bowlers. USBC Queens
The USBC Queens is an annual ten-pin bowling event for amateur and professional female bowlers, sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress. The event is one of four women's professional majors since the PWBA tour returned in 2015 and the female equivalent of the USBC Masters, now one of the four majors on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour. The format for the USBC Queens tournament is similar to the USBC Masters. All entrants bowl 15 games of qualifying over three days. PBA Women's Series
The PBA Women's Series was a mini-tour for female professional bowlers. It was started in 2007 as a way to bring women's bowling back to television after the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) disbanded in 2003. Sponsored by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and its website bowl.com, it ran concurrently with several stops on the Professional Bowlers Association's men's tour. After the PWBA folded, female bowlers have had very few national venues in which to bowl, other than the USBC Queens event. Earl Roderick Anthony (April 27, 1938 – August 14, 2001) was an American professional bowler who amassed records of 43 titles and six Player of the Year awards on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour. For over two decades, his career title count was listed as 41.
