Wendy Fonarow
Wendy Fonarow is a Los Angeles based anthropologist, writer, music industry professional and Professor of Anthropology at Glendale Community College. She is best known for her book ''Empire of Dirt'', one of the first academic monographs on indie music in the context of live concerts. and for her column Ask the Indie Professor in The Guardian. Her areas of expertise include ritual, performance and the music industry. Life and career Wendy Fonarow was born in Los Angeles and studied applied mathematics and anthropology at University of California in San Diego, where she also worked at the campus radio station KSDT. At the time the station featured post-punk British bands and underground dance music. Milo Aukerman of the Descendants also attended UCSD at the same time. The band covered the Beach Boys' song "Wendy" for her. The song was later included on The Descendant's album Enjoy! After graduating, she continued to attend concerts in Los Angeles. Secret EP
''Secret EP'' is an EP by the American indie rock band Sebadoh, released on July 23, 2012. The EP was not released on a label and was made available for digital download on the online music store Bandcamp. The EP was recorded from March to July 2012 at Indietopia in Glendale, California. ''Secret EP'' is Sebadoh's first new material in fourteen years since the band's previous album ''The Sebadoh'' (1999). Recording Sebadoh began recording ''Secret EP'' on March 29, 2012 at frontman Lou Barlow's rehearsal space. Updates from the recording sessions were posted by band member Jason Loewenstein on his official Blogger. The basic tracks for eleven potential songs were completed by April 10. In May, the band began the second and final recording sessions and by June the band began mixing the EP and recording overdubs. ''The Guardian'' is a British daily newspaper. It was founded in 1821 as ''The Manchester Guardian'', and changed its name in 1959. Along with its sister papers ''The Observer'' and ''The Guardian Weekly'', ''The Guardian'' is part of the Guardian Media Group, owned by the Scott Trust. The trust was created in 1936 to "secure the financial and editorial independence of ''The Guardian'' in perpetuity and to safeguard the journalistic freedom and liberal values of ''The Guardian'' free from commercial or political interference". ''Defend Yourself'' is the eighth studio album by American indie rock band Sebadoh. It is the band's first album in fourteen years, since 1999's ''The Sebadoh''. The album was released on September 16, 2013 via Domino in the United Kingdom and on September 17, 2013 via Joyful Noise in the United States, respectively. Sebadoh
Sebadoh () is an American indie rock band formed in 1986 in Northampton, Massachusetts, by Eric Gaffney and Lou Barlow, with multi-instrumentalist Jason Loewenstein completing the line-up in 1989. Barlow co-created Sebadoh as an outlet for his songwriting when J. Mascis gradually took over creative control of Dinosaur Jr., in which Barlow plays bass guitar. Along with such bands as Pavement, Beat Happening and Guided by Voices, Sebadoh helped pioneer a lo-fi style of indie rock characterized by low-fidelity recording techniques that employed four-track cassette tape machines. The band's early output, such as ''The Freed Man'' and ''Weed Forestin''' (both released 1990), as well as ''Sebadoh III'' (1991), was typical of this style.
