Wendell Gaskin
Wendell Gaskin (born January 7, 1973) is a retired American sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. He finished sixth in the 400 metres at the 1995 Pan American Games, and also won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay at the same games. His personal best time was 45.29 seconds, achieved in June 1994 in Knoxville. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. The Pan American Games (also known colloquially as the Pan Am Games) is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. 400 Metres
The 400 metres, or 400-meter dash, is a sprint event in track and field competitions. It has been featured in the athletics (sport), athletics programme at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1964 for women. On a standard outdoor running track, it is one lap around the track. Runners start in staggered positions and race in separate lanes for the entire course.
