Wem Town F.C.
Wem Town Football Club is a football club based in the market town of Wem, Shropshire, England. They are currently members of the and play at the Butler Sports Centre. History The club was formed in 1883. For the 1989–90 season, they joined the West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two, and in their first season in the division, won promotion to Division One. This is where they remained until 1995, when they left the league. In 2009–10, they rejoined the West Midlands (Regional) League, after winning the Shropshire County League. During this season, they finished Division Two runners-up and were awarded promotion back to Division One. They then spent nine seasons in Division One, before being crowned Division One champions at the end of the 2017–18 season. West Midlands (Regional) League
The West Midlands (Regional) League is an English association football competition for semi-professional and amateur teams based in the West Midlands county, Shropshire, Worcestershire, southern Staffordshire and northern Herefordshire. It has two divisions, the highest of which is Division One, a regional feeder for the National League System (NLS) at the eleventh level of the overall English football league system. The league was formed in 1889 as the Birmingham & District League to cater for teams in Birmingham and the surrounding area, but soon became established as one of the strongest leagues outside the Football League itself, with teams from as far afield as Bristol and Wales taking part. Shropshire County League
The Shropshire County Premier Football League was an English association football league based in the county of Shropshire. The league, usually known as the Shropshire County League, was founded in 1950 and in the final season had two divisions which sat at levels 13 and 14 of the English football league system. It was dissolved in May 2012 and all member clubs transferred to a new, larger Mercian Regional Football League for the 2012–13 season. Clubs who won this league were promoted to the West Midlands (Regional) League (all champions 2008–2012 were), although on occasion teams (such as Shifnal Town in 1993) instead moved into the Midland Football Combination. North West Counties Football League
The North West Counties Football League is a football league in the North West of England. Since 2019–20, the league has covered the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, northern Staffordshire, northern Shropshire, the far west of West Yorkshire, and the High Peak area of Derbyshire. In the past, the league has also hosted clubs from North Wales such as Caernarfon Town, Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. The National League System comprises the six levels of the English football league system immediately below the level of the English Football League.
