Welltree Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Northern Territory. Location The property is situated in the locality of Rakula, Northern Territory, Rakula approximately west of Batchelor, Northern Territory, Batchelor and south west of Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin. It is located adjacent to Litchfield National Park. Part of the Anson Bay, Daly and Reynolds River Floodplains, an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area is found within the station boundaries. History In 1961 Welltree was bought by Bob Townshend for 9 million. He put the property on the market in 2001 when it was stocked with 9,000 head of Brahman (cattle), Brahman cattle and comprised , of which 60 percent is made up of Anson Bay, Daly and Reynolds River Floodplains, floodplain country. The Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) () is a public-listed Australian company that, as at 2018, owned and operated feedlots and farms covering around of land in Queensland and the Northern Territory, roughly one percent of Australia's land mass. Brahman (cattle)
The Brahman is an American breed of zebuine-taurine hybrid beef cattle. It was bred in the United States from 1885 from cattle originating in India, imported at various times from the United Kingdom, from India and from Brazil. These were mainly Gir, Guzerá and Nelore stock, with some Indu-Brasil, Krishna Valley and Ongole. The Brahman has a high tolerance of heat, sunlight and humidity, and good resistance to parasites. It has been exported to many countries, particularly in the tropics; in Australia it is the most numerous breed of cattle. A pastoral lease, sometimes called a pastoral run, is an arrangement used in both Australia and New Zealand where government-owned Crown land is leased out to graziers for the purpose of livestock grazing on rangelands. Anson Bay, Daly And Reynolds River Floodplains
The Anson Bay, Daly and Reynolds River Floodplains comprise some of seasonally inundated floodplains around Anson Bay, and the lower reaches of the Daly, Reynolds and Docherty Rivers entering the bay, on the west coast of the Top End of the Northern Territory of Australia.
