Wells Fargo Rail (reporting marks WFRX, NATX, NDYX and FURX) is the new name for the historic First Union Rail Corporation, along with the combined business of the former GE Capital Rail Services, which Wells Fargo purchased from GE in September 2015. The new company/name took effect January 1, 2016, and is based in Rosemont, Illinois, USA. Wells Fargo Rail is the largest railcar and locomotive leasing company in North America with over 175,000 railcars and 1,800 locomotives available. Well Car
A well car, also known as a double-stack car (or also intermodal car/container car), is a type of railroad car specially designed to carry intermodal containers (shipping containers) used in intermodal freight transport. The "well" is a depressed section which sits close to the rails between the wheel trucks of the car, allowing a container to be carried lower than on a traditional flatcar. This makes it possible to carry a stack of two containers per unit on railway lines (double-stack rail transport) wherever the structure gauge assures sufficient clearance. The EMD SD40-2 is a C-C diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD from 1972 to 1989. The SD40-2 was introduced in January 1972 as part of EMD's '' Dash 2'' series, competing against the GE U30C and the ALCO Century 630. Although higher-horsepower locomotives were available, including EMD's own SD45-2, the reliability and versatility of the SD40-2 made it one of the best-selling models in EMD's history, edged only by the GP9, and the standard of the industry for several decades after its introduction. The SD40-2 was an improvement over the SD40, with modular electronic control systems similar to those of the experimental DDA40X. Peak production of the SD40-2 was in the mid-1970s. EMD MP15DC
The EMD MP15, sometimes referenced as MP15DC, is a switcher-type diesel locomotive model produced by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between 1974-1980. It was equipped with an engine sporting a roots blower. The length was either or depending on the build date. The early MP15 and the SW1500 were similar in appearance and applications. They were fitted with the same engine (a V12 EMD 12-645E) in a similar appearance. The primary difference is the MP15's standard Blomberg B trucks. Development Switchers up to the SW1500 had been restricted to AAR type A switcher or Flexicoil lightweight trucks, both with a wheelbase. The EMD GP40-2 is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division as part of its Dash 2 line between April 1972 and December 1986. The locomotive's power is provided by an EMD 645E3 16-cylinder engine which generates . Production Standard GP40-2 production totaled 861 units, with 817 built for U.S. railroads, and 44 for Mexican railroads. Part of the EMD Dash 2 line, the GP38-2 was an upgraded version of the earlier GP38. Power is provided by an EMD 645E 16-cylinder engine, which generates 2,000 horsepower (1.5 MW). GP38-2W The GP38-2W is a Canadian variant of the GP38-2. It is easily distinguished by its wide-nose Canadian comfort cab. 51 of these locomotives were produced for the Canadian National Railway during 1973–1974.
