Wellington Phoenix FC Reserves
Wellington Phoenix Football Club Reserves is a football team based in Wellington, New Zealand. They currently serve as the reserve side of the Wellington Phoenix FC of the A-League and compete in the New Zealand National League. History From 2010 to 2013, a Wellington Phoenix reserve side took part in the ASB Phoenix Challenge competition against ASB Premiership sides, however these games were separate to the main competition. On 22 August 2014 it was announced that the club had been granted permission to field a reserve side in the 2014–15 ASB Premiership, the highest level of football in New Zealand. The team made their debut in the competition on 1 November 2014 against Team Wellington. Tyler Boyd scored the first goal in the reserves' history, but that could not prevent them losing 1–2. National Youth League (New Zealand)
The National Youth League (NYL) is the premier competition for youth football players in New Zealand. Founded in 2003, it was a league competition consisting of the youth teams of each of the ten clubs that played in the New Zealand Football Championship. It was held each season between October and December, and consists of each team playing each other once; the fixture list mirrors that of the senior league. The last team to be champions of the original league and the most successful team of the competition was the youth team of Auckland City, finishing champions seven times in the sixteen years the original competition ran. In December 2021, New Zealand Football announced that they were bringing back the National Youth Development League to run alongside the National League. Fraser Park is Lower Hutt's largest recreational sportsground, at 27 hectares it is the biggest sporting ground in the lower North Island. Tyler Boyd (footballer)
Tyler Dominic Boyd (born December 30, 1994) is a professional soccer player who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Nashville SC. Born in New Zealand, he played for the United States national team. Personal life Boyd is a citizen of both New Zealand and the United States, having been born in New Zealand to a New Zealand father and an American mother. He was raised in Santa Ynez, California, until the age of 10, when he returned to New Zealand. He credits the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's soccer team as his inspiration for starting the game as he served as a ball boy and they held camps near his hometown. Riley Bidois
Riley Bidois (born 12 March 2002) is a professional New Zealand footballer who plays as a forward for Dandenong City. Bidois joined the Wellington Phoenix Reserves in 2019 after he was spotted playing in the Western Springs U17 tournament where he was Golden Boot. Before that, Bidois played for Tauranga City in the NRFL Division 1 for two years. During 2020, Bidois also played for Lower Hutt City who were the Wellington Phoenix feeder club, that allowed the Phoenix team and players to play in the Central League portion of the New Zealand National League. He again played for Lower Hutt City in 2021 and was the leagues second top goalscorer with 16 goals behind fellow Phoenix player George Ott. 2021 New Zealand National League
The 2021 New Zealand National League was the first scheduled season of the National League since its restructuring in 2021. 30 clubs competed in the competition, with four having been planned to qualify from the Northern League, three qualifying from the Central League and two qualifying from the Southern League for the National Championship phase along with the automatically qualified Wellington Phoenix Reserves. Each team was allowed to field a maximum of four foreign players as well as one additional foreign player who has Oceania Football Confederation nationality. Team Wellington Football Club was a New Zealand semi-professional football club based in the suburb of Miramar in Wellington, New Zealand. They competed in the ISPS Handa Premiership.
