Wellington Fagundes (born June 1, 1957) is a Brazilian politician. He has represented Mato Grosso in the Brazilian Senate, Federal Senate since 2015. Previously he was a deputy from Mato Grosso from 1991 to 2015. He is a member of the Party of the Republic, Liberal Party (PL). The Liberal Party ( pt, Partido Liberal, PL) is a conservative and national liberal political party in Brazil. From its foundation in 2006 until 2019, it was called the Party of the Republic ( pt, Partido da República, PR). Mato Grosso ( – lit. "Thick Bush") is one of the states of Brazil, the third largest by area, located in the Central-West region. The state has 1.66% of the Brazilian population and is responsible for 1.9% of the Brazilian GDP. Neighboring states (from west clockwise) are: Rondônia, Amazonas, Pará, Tocantins, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul. The state is roughly 82.2% of the size of its southwest neighbor, the nation of Bolivia.
