Saalach
The Saalach is a river in Austria and Germany, and a left tributary of the Salzach. Course The river begins, as the stream, in the Austrian state of Tyrol in the Kitzbühel Alps at the lake below the high Gamshag. From there it flows initially eastwards through the valley, through Hinterglemm, then the ski resort of Saalbach – at the latest from there it is known as the ''Saalach'' – until it bends north at Maishofen. It follows the broad valley to Saalfelden, and meanders further on through the narrow valley between the Leoganger and Loferer Steinberge and the Steinernes Meer to Lofer in north-western direction. There it enters a narrow gorge, famous for its white water rafting. Crossing the border to Bavaria (Germany) at Melleck (part of Schneizlreuth) it flows along the northern slopes of the Reiter Alpe known for its climbing routes. A short distance before Bad Reichenhall, a dam of a hydro-electrical power plant collects the waters of the . The power plant pro ...

Bavaria
Bavaria ( ; ), officially the Free State of Bavaria (german: Freistaat Bayern, link=no ), is a state in the south-east of Germany. With an area of , Bavaria is the largest German state by land area, comprising roughly a fifth of the total land area of Germany. With over 13 million inhabitants, it is second in population only to North Rhine-Westphalia, but due to its large size its population density is below the German average. Bavaria's main cities are Munich (its capital and largest city and also the third largest city in Germany), Nuremberg, and Augsburg. The history of Bavaria includes its earliest settlement by Iron Age Celtic tribes, followed by the conquests of the Roman Empire in the 1st century BC, when the territory was incorporated into the provinces of Raetia and Noricum. It became the Duchy of Bavaria (a stem duchy) in the 6th century AD following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. It was later incorporated into the Holy Roman Empire, became an ind ...

Inzell
Inzell is a municipality in the district of Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. It is known for the Eisstadion Inzell, an outdoor artificial ice rink that has been used for many international speed skating championships. It is now an indoor oval. Geography Inzell lies in a wide valley floor in the Chiemgau Alps, framed by the mountains of Rauschberg, Zinnkopf, Teisenberg and the massif of Staufen. In the municipality, the confluence of the Großwaldbach and Falkenseebach rivers forms the Rote Traun river. Inzell is also known as the gateway to Berchtesgaden National Park due to the ''Zwing'', a mountain passage between Inzell and Weißbach, which separates the Chiemgau from Berchtesgaden. History The independent municipality of Inzell was created in 1818 as a result of administrative reform in Bavaria. The mining and smelting of ores was an important source of income in the village, as can still be seen in the coat of arms (above right). Transport From Inzell runs the Fede ...

Schneizlreuth is a municipality in the district of Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria in Germany. History In 1285 an estate in the area was called Schnaezenreut. This is the earliest the town's name can be traced. The municipality of Schneizlreuth was created on 1 July 1909 by merging the municipalities of Jettenberg (with the districts Oberjettenberg and Unterjettenberg) and Ristfeucht (including Schneizlreuth, then a hamlet). On 5 May 1945 the last battles of the World War II that were held in Bavaria took place in Schneizlreuth. On 1 January 1984 the northern, larger part of the unincorporated area Jette Forst incorporated into Schneizlreuth, adding an area of 2279.77 hectares. The smaller southern portion with 683.49 acres joined the neighboring village of Ramsau. On 1 January 2011, the eastern portion of Forest St. Zeno (966.50 hectares) incorporated into Schneizlreuth. The rest of the area, 290.10 acres, was annexed to Bad Reichenhall. Both of these uninhabited, formerly un ...

Rivers Of Bavaria
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases, a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Small rivers can be referred to using names such as creek, brook, rivulet, and rill. There are no official definitions for the generic term river as applied to geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream is defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; examples are "run" in some parts of the United States, "burn" in Scotland and northeast England, and "beck" in northern England. Sometimes a river is defined as being larger than a creek, but not always: the language is vague. Rivers are part of the water cycle. Water generally collects in a river from precipitation through a drainage basin from surface runoff and other sources such as groundwater recharge, springs, ...
