Magic Weisner
Magic Weisner (foaled in Maryland on May 3, 1999) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. A descendant of Bold Forbes, he was sired by Ameri Valay and bred by Nancy H. Alberts. Magic Weisner was a graded stakes winner but is best remembered for his runner-up finish in the 2002 Preakness Stakes and his serious public battle to overcome West Nile fever when little was known about the disease. Two-year-old season Nancy Alberts, also Magic Weisner's owner, trainer, and exercise rider, bred the horse from a mare named Jazema, which she bought as a yearling for $1 because of her crooked legs. In the late 1980s, Alberts lost Jazema twice in claiming races and bought her back both times. The final time she bought her back was for breeding. Alberts had commented that Jazema had a special eye for Ameri Valay because of seeing him around the barn area at Laurel Park. Jamie Scott (née ''Weisner'') (born August 9, 1994) is an American/Canadian professional basketball player, previously playing for the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted 17th overall by the Connecticut Sun in the 2016 WNBA draft, but cut during the 2016 preseason and signed with the Mystics. Louis Weisner (born 1899–1988) was an American-Canadian mathematician at the University of New Brunswick who introduced Weisner's method. Patrick Weisner (born 17 March 1982) is a professional rugby league coach and a former professional rugby league footballer who played for Ireland at international level. Background Weisner was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Tom Weisner
Tom Weisner (October 6, 1949 – December 28, 2018) was an American politician. He became the mayor of Aurora, Illinois, beginning in April 2005. Prior to his election he worked for over eighteen years in high-ranking positions in the city of Aurora and for five years as a volunteer in the Peace Corps. Weisner was re-elected twice, in 2009 and 2013, serving as mayor until his resignation on October 30, 2016, due to his declining health. He had been diagnosed with cancer two years into his first of three terms as mayor. He died of cancer-related complications on December 28, 2018. Background Weisner was a native of Batavia, Illinois, but moved to Aurora thirty years before becoming a political candidate. Weisner had been married to Marilyn Hogan Weisner since 1972.
