Ladislaus Weinek
Ladislaus Weinek ( hu, Weinek László, 13 February 1848, Buda – 12 November 1913, Prague) was an Austro-Hungarian astronomer. He was educated in Vienna, and worked for a period at the photography laboratories in Schwerin. In 1874 he joined a German expedition to the Kerguelen Islands to observe a transit of Venus across the face of the Sun. His results from the expedition were published in '' Nova Acta Leopoldina''. In 1883 he became a professor in Prague and was the ninth director of the Klementinum observatory. There, on 27 November 1885, he took the ''first known photograph of a meteor''. He set up observing stations in Prague and Jena (to observe the Andromedids shower of that year, which turned out to be very intense), and caught a 7mm-long trail on a plate in Prague. In collaboration with Friedrich Küstner, he made measurements of the height of the pole. Weinek (crater)
Weinek is a small lunar impact crater that is located in the southeastern part of the Moon, to the south of the Mare Nectaris. It was named after Austro-Hungarian astronomer Ladislaus Weinek. It lies about one crater diameter to the east-northeast of the prominent Piccolomini. Martin Weinek (born 30 June 1964 in Leoben, Styria) is an Austrian actor, perhaps best known for his role in the television series ''Inspector Rex'' (as Inspector Fritz Kunz). He also produces wine in Austria. Biography Weinek studied drama from 1983 to 1986 under Professor Peter P. Jost. From 1986, he had an acting part for ''Group 80'' at the theaters in Vienna and had a small part in the film ''Nachsaison'' (''After-season''), where he played the role of an elevator boy. In the year 1987, he played at Recklinghausen festivals under the direction of Georg Mittendrein in ''The Lechner Edi looks into Paradise'' and as a street-sweeper in the film ''Müllomania'' under the director Dieter Berner. He had acting commitments at the Jura Soyfertheater Vienna from 1988 to 1989, as well as commitments at other theater stages.
