Weightlifting At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
Weightlifting competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland were held between 24 July and 2 August at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. Included with the weightlifting event were four powerlifting events for disabled athletes. Following a failed doping test, Amalaha was stripped of her medal and placement, and the medals were redistributed. Weightlifting generally refers to activities in which people lift weights, often in the form of dumbbells or barbells. People lift various kinds of weights for a variety of different reasons. These may include various types of competition; promoting health and fitness; developing physical strength; or developing a muscular physique, possibly with the goal of engaging in competitive bodybuilding. David Katoatau
David Katoatau (born July 17, 1984) is an I-Kiribati weightlifter. At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships he ranked 37th in the 85 kg category, with a total of 281 kg. He ranked 4th in the 85 kg category at the 2008 Oceania Weightlifting Championships, with a total of 292 kg. Career Katoatau represented Kiribati in weightlifting at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, and also was the national flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In the Olympic tournament he ranked 15th in the 85 kg category, with a total of 313 kg. Simplice Ribouem (born 5 December 1982) is a Cameroon-born Olympian weightlifter who competed for Cameroon up to 2006, and for Australia from 2009.
