Weightlifting At The 2009 Mediterranean Games
The weightlifting competitions at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy took place between 26 June and 30 June at the Pala Rigopiano. Athletes competed in 22 events across 11 weight categories (7 for men and 4 for women). Three Women's (48 kg, 75 kg and +75 kg) and the Men's +105 kg category will not be held because too few nations applied. Briken Calja (born 19 February 1990, Elbasan) is an Albanian weightlifter, Olympian, and European Champion competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and 73 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories.
