''Wehshi'' is an Urdu novel by Pakistani author Razia Butt. The novel revolves around the dysfunctional relation of a son with his mother and stepfather. The novel has been adapted into a film in 1972 and aWehshi (series), TV series in 2022. Synopsis The novel talks about the effects of the childhood deprivations, abuse and toxic environment on one's life. It is about a young boy and his traumatised life who becomes so when his mother marries for second time after his father's death. His stepfather too tortures him mentally leading him to worse. Adaptation * The novel was adpated into a film ''Pyasa'' (1972) which was directed by Hassan Tariq. * Wehshi (series), ''Wehshi'', a television series based on the novel, directed by Iqbal Hussain is currently airing on Hum TV. Wehshi (series)
''Wehshi'' () is a 2022 Pakistani television series based on the novel of the same name by Razia Butt. It is produced by Momina Duraid under banner MD Productions and directed by Iqbal Hussain. The series stars Khushhal Khan, Komal Meer, Subhan Awan, Nadia Khan and Babar Ali in leading roles. The series revolves around a parental orphan guy, whose deprivations make him wild, as labelled by others. ''Wehshi'' broadcast on Hum TV from 29 August 2022 to 27 December 2022. Plot Fathers of Sobia and Asif die on the same day when the two were kids. While father of Sobia always mistreated his second daughter (for being a girl), Asif was dearly loved by his father (only son). The lives of the 2 kids takes particularly drastic turns externally as well as internally. Asif's mother gets remarried for financial support of her son and endows herself in care of Asif's foster brother, Amir. Razia Butt
Razia Butt ( ur, ) was an Urdu novelist and playwright from Pakistan. One of the famous popular fiction writer of the 1960s and 1970s, she is often compared with English writer Barbara Cartland due to her popularity among the household readers. Some of her works have been adapted into television serials and films, including '' Bano''. Background Razia Niaz was born in Wazirabad on 19 May 1924. She spent most of her childhood in Peshawar. Career She first appeared in a literary journal around 1940 when she was in her teens. She later developed her first published story into a novel, ''Naila''. Butt also wrote radio plays. Films such as ''Naila'', '' Saiqa'' and television serials such as '' Saiqa'' and '' Dastaan'' are based on her novels. Married in 1946, Razia Butt resumed writing in 1950s after a break of some years. She wrote 51 novels and 350 short stories. Butt wrote an autobiography, ''Bichhray Lamhe''. Hassan Tariq
Hassan Tariq (22 October 1934 – 24 April 1982) was a Pakistani film director, film producer and screenwriter who was famous for making films like Anjuman, Kaneez, Baharo Phool Barsao, ''Dewar Bhabhi''. Early life and career Hassan was born on 22 October 1934 in Amritsar, India. He migrated to Pakistan after its establishment. He started his career as an assistant director. He directed his first film, ''Neend'' (Sleep) in 1959 and became a successful director. He made around 40 films in Pakistan film industry and was the main reason behind the success of his wife Rani. Personal life Hassan married three times. He was married with actress Nighat Sultana, dancer Emi Minwala and actress Rani. Death He died on 24 April 1982 at Lahore, Pakistan. Hum TV is a 24-hour Urdu General Entertainment TV channel based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded by Sultana Siddiqui and Duraid Qureshi. It is owned by Hum Network Limited and traded on Pakistan Stock Exchange as (HUMNL). Hum Network Limited was known as ''Eye Television Network Limited'' prior to 21 January 2011. Urdu-language Literature
Urdu literature ( ur, , ) is literature in the Urdu language. While it tends to be dominated by poetry, especially the verse forms of the ''ghazal '' غزل and ''nazm '' نظم, it has expanded into other styles of writing, including that of the short story, or ''afsana'' افسانہ .
