Weekender Records
Weekender Records was an Artist Management Company and an independent record label, based in London, England, it also had a sister company based in Berlin Germany. The company closed in March 2010 (Germany in 2009). History It was established in September 2006. Initially started by Austrian-based club owner Justin Barwick with help from London-based band manager Grant Box and Dymphna Terzoli who had 9 years' experience in the industry including Virgin Records, Mean Fiddler, KOKO. The label took its name from the Weekender Club in Innsbruck where many artists on the label were discovered. Its first year saw the release of an album by DOGS, a multitude of single releases including Eight Legs, The Lea Shores, The Runners, Look See Proof and The Indelicates, many of whom would go on to be album artistes. Dogs (British Band)
Dogs was a post-punk-influenced indie rock band from London. They toured with Paul Weller (singer), Paul Weller and Razorlight. Their first album, ''Turn Against This Land'', released on 19 September 2005, was recorded at Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, produced by John Cornfield. It was released by Island Records and received critical acclaim from the UK press. It contained the singles "London Bridge/End of an Era" (double A-side), "Tuned to a Different Station" and "Selfish Ways", each charting in the UK chart top 40. Dogs returned during 2007, under Weekender Records, with three singles: "Soldier On", followed by "This Stone Is a Bullet" and thirdly "Dirty Little Shop", released on 18 June 2007. Subliminal Girls are a London based pop punk/disco band. Biography The band contain ex and current members of The Art Goblins, Rhesus, Ciccone, Video Club, Future and the Boy, Dizzy Moth and The Bridport Dagger. They released singles with Weekender Records, an EP on Pop Art Records and have supported The Bravery, Jamie T, The Rumblestrips, Klaxons, and Babyshambles. In 2007 the band signed to independent label Weekender records and released a double A sided single with tracks "Burn Koko" and "Mirror". The band's second single, a double A-Side, "Self Obsession is an Art Form" and "Hungry Like The Wolf" - a cover of Duran Duran - reached number 18 in the official Indie Charts in January 2008. Shout Out Louds
Shout Out Louds is a Swedish indie pop band from Stockholm. History Formed in Stockholm by childhood friends Adam Olenius (vocals), Ted Malmros (bass), and Carl von Arbin (guitars), Shout Out Louds found an international audience during the early 2000s with their peppy Swedish pop. The lineup began taking shape in 2001, with drummer Eric Edman and keyboardist Bebban Stenborg climbing aboard shortly thereafter. Shout Out Louds wasted little time writing songs, the first three of which formed the basis of their first demo tape. The music caught the ear of Filip Wilén, owner of Sweden's Bud Fox Recordings, and he quickly signed the group to his label. Shout Out Louds then spent the majority of 2002 writing more songs, and December found them recording their debut EP, 100°, which was released in 2003. The Rocks were an English Punk and Indie rock band from London, England. Their last lineup comprised James Taylor (Vocals), Mauro Venegas (Lead Guitar), Sarah Bacon (Rhythm Guitar and Keyboards), Chris Mann (Bass) and Nick Bukowski (Drums) Career 2001-2003 The Rocks were formed in 2001 by James Taylor and Sarah Bacon, inspired by seeing live performances by At The Drive-In. Taylor began writing the early Rocks material, recruiting lead guitarist and co-songwriter Mauro Venegas and bassist Chris Mann, mainly through a series of chance encounters. The Puzzle is a Hungarian indie rock band based in Budapest but originally from Kaposvár, Hungary. They were one of the first bands from Hungary who settled down outside their native country to try to promote their band. They moved to London, The United Kingdom in 2004 after releasing their first record, ''Dream Your Life''. History The Puzzle was formed in Kaposvár in 1997. They started gigging with playing in small clubs, then bigger festivals in Hungary. In 2000 they released their first demo entitled ''Dream Your Life'' which received mainly positive reviews, but the real breakthrough happened in the summer of 2000. Naked Lunch is a band from Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria, founded in 1991. They started out as an alternative rock band, mixing hard rock guitars and fragile vocals. In the nineties, they connected with the German band The Notwist, in Weilheim, with whom they still have ties; their producer, Olaf Opal, is also working for The Notwist. The Lines
The Lines were a four-piece indie rock band from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England who were signed to Amboy Road Records. Previously had released their debut single on Weekender Records in February 2008. The Lines formed in 2006 with lifetime school friends Dean Bate and Alex Ohm, who went on to release their debut single 'Domino Effect' on Weekender Records on 25 February 2008. Edwards & Titley left the group in late 2008. The band split up in 2013. The Lines achieved various support slots between 2006 and 2008 which included The Killers, Editors, The Maccabees, The Twang, The Charlatans, Babyshambles, Jack Peñate, Supergrass, Ian Brown and Good Shoes.
