''Weekend Now'' (styled as ''WeekendNOW''; originally styled as ''Weekend:Now'') was a weekend weather program on The Weather Channel that aired from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Eastern time on Saturdays and Sundays. The program, which originally featured unique segments including world weather, lifestyle-oriented weather, and light weather news, debuted in 2001 as the first of multiple weekend programs on The Weather Channel. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Description Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room. In this way, multiple shots are obtained in a single take without having to start and stop the action. The Weather Channel (TWC) is an American pay television channel owned by Weather Group, LLC, a subsidiary of Allen Media Group. The channel's headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia. Launched on May 2, 1982, the channel broadcasts weather forecasts and weather-related news and analysis, along with documentaries and entertainment programming related to weather. A sister network, Weatherscan, was a digital cable and satellite service that offered 24-hour automated local forecasts and radar imagery. Weatherscan was officially shut down on December 9, 2022. ''Weather Center'' (originally ''WeatherScope'') was a news and weather program produced by The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia. Initially, ''Weather Center'' was the lone program for The Weather Channel. By 2000, the show had started being significantly pared down. By the end of 2008, ''Weather Center'' only aired for one hour a day during the week and two hours on weekends. The 4pm hour of ''Weather Center'' (2006 to 2009) was replaced by ''PM Edition''. ''PM Edition'' was a weather program on The Weather Channel, an American television station. It focused on weather conditions for the evening commute. It also recapped the day's weather and delivered the forecast for tomorrow. Program history ''PM Edition'' and sister program ''Afternoon Outlook'' were launched in fall 2003 and helped finish the compartmentalization of the TWC programming day, which transformed the network from just ''Weather Center'' to a myriad of different shows with set hosts and tone. The original pair of meteorologists for the program was Carl Parker and Kristina Abernathy. ''Weekend View'' was a weekend weather program on The Weather Channel that aired from 5-11 a.m. Eastern Time. Because of this timeslot, it can be considered the weekend equivalent to '' Morning Rush'', although it aired for six hours in comparison to the three-hour time length of ''Morning Rush''. ''Weekend View'' included local and national outlooks for the day as well as lifestyle segments. On November 10, 2013, Weekend View aired for the final time and was replaced by Weather Center Live. Program history ''Weekend Views initial launch date was planned for September 10, 2005, but its premiere was delayed two weeks due to the busy 2005 hurricane season.
