Week Anniversary Of Trujillo Municipality
The Week anniversary of Trujillo Municipality also called ''Trujillo Jubilee Week'' is a celebration held the first week of March in the Peruvian city of Trujillo. This week of celebration has as central day on March 5 of every year in commemoration to the installation of the first cabildo in the city made in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro. In this week of celebration are presented several acts and festivals in the city. In the last edition of this anniversary week took place the Trujillo Book Festival held in the traditional ''Plazuela El Recreo''. Plaza De Armas Of Trujillo (Peru)
Plaza de Armas of Trujillo is the main square where the Spanish foundation of Trujillo was made, in northern Peru. It has been the principal locus of history in this city in the republic era. It is located in the central zone of the Historic Centre of Trujillo. In the streets that form this main square are located the buildings of ''Municipality Palace'', the Cathedral, among others. The ''Plaza de Armas of Trujillo'' is formed by the Pizarro, Independencia, Orbegoso and Almagro streets. In this square, the proclamation of the independence of Trujillo took place. Trujillo, Peru
Trujillo (; qu, Truhillu) is a city in coastal northwestern Peru and the capital of the Department of La Libertad. It is the third most populous city and center of the List of metropolitan areas of Peru, third most populous metropolitan area of Peru. It is located on the banks of the Moche River, near its mouth at the Pacific Ocean, in the Moche Valley. The Municipality of Trujillo is the Peruvian public institution of government for Trujillo Province, Peru. It is located in the city of Trujillo and is responsible for the supply and management of the province and its districts. Cabildo (council)
A cabildo () or ayuntamiento () was a Spanish colonial, and early post-colonial, administrative council which governed a municipality. Cabildos were sometimes appointed, sometimes elected; but they were considered to be representative of all land-owning heads of household (''vecinos''). The colonial cabildo was essentially the same as the one developed in medieval Castile. The cabildo was the legal representative of the municipality—and its ''vecinos''—before the Crown, therefore it was among the first institutions established by the conquistadors themselves after, or even before, taking over an area. For example, Hernán Cortés established La Villa Rica de la Vera Cruz to free himself from the authority of the Governor of Cuba. Francisco Pizarro
Francisco Pizarro González, Marquess of the Atabillos (; ; – 26 June 1541) was a Spanish conquistador, best known for his expeditions that led to the Spanish conquest of Peru. Born in Trujillo, Spain to a poor family, Pizarro chose to pursue fortune and adventure in the New World. He went to the Gulf of Urabá, and accompanied Vasco Núñez de Balboa in his crossing of the Isthmus of Panama, where they became the first Europeans to see the Pacific Ocean from the Americas. He served as mayor of the newly founded Panama City for a few years and undertook two failed expeditions to Peru. In 1529, Pizarro obtained permission from the Spanish crown to lead a campaign to conquer Peru and went on his third, and successful, expedition. Trujillo Book Festival is an international literary festival held in Trujillo, a Peruvian city. The last edition in 2012 took place on March from days 1 to 12 in the '' Plazuela El Recreo'' an historical square of the city and had the participation of Peruvian writers as Arturo Corcuera and Jorge Diaz Herrera, writer honored, and also the young Colombian poet Lucia Estrada History In the year 2009 took place the 4th edition of this festival, it was conducted at the Complejo Mansiche with the assistance of writers Laura Restrepo, Gonzalo Rojas and Alfredo Bryce Echenique, among others. Plazuela El Recreo
The Plazuela El Recreo is a traditional square located in the Peruvian city of Trujillo in La Libertad Region in northern Peru. Situated at the 8th block of the Pizarro street in the Historic Centre of Trujillo in this square are held cultural shows and in March 2012 was the scenery of Trujillo Book Festival. The square has high ficus around. This square has been declared Monumental Heritage of the Nation by the National Institute of Culture of Peru. Description In the center of the square is a marble fountain Italian Baroque style that was in the Plaza de Armas of Trujillo and was moved there in the 1930s, around the fountain there are 4 statues distributed in each frame corner fenced surrounding. Trujillo Marinera Festival
Trujillo Marinera Festival is a Peruvian cultural event held annually in Trujillo city in January. The event focuses on a dance contest called the marinera, a typical dance of the city and of the country. The festival also presents parades, presentations and competitions of Peruvian paso horses. Both the marinera dance and the Peruvian paso horse have been declared to be part of the ''cultural heritage of the nation'' by the Peruvian government.
