''Webwereld'' was a Dutch online newspaper about IT by the International Data Group. It was the oldest Dutch technology website until it was discontinued in 2020. History Webwereld was founded in 1995 by Oscar Kneppers, who got the idea after visiting Silicon Valley in the summer of that year. Another Dutch tech website Tweakers.net was founded in 1998 after Femme Taken concluded that the moderation on Webwereld was too strict. In August 2011, Webwereld published about court documents in the '' Apple Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co.'' lawsuit. In October 2011, Webwereld started ''Lektober'' (portmanteau of leak and October in Dutch) where they publicized about software vulnerabilities in well known Dutch websites. Brenno De Winter
Brenno de Winter (born 6 December 1971, in Ede) is a former Dutch ICT and investigative journalist. He writes for ''Linux Magazine'', ''Computer!Totaal'', NU.nl, and Webwereld, and is a commenter for the '' PowNews'' programme on PowNed TV. Brenno is also a podcaster and hosts ''Laura Speaks Dutch''. He caused controversy by submitting requests for information on the basis of the Open Government Act (WOB) to include Jeltje van Nieuwenhoven (regarding her role as OV ambassador) and hundreds WOB requests to all Dutch municipalities and provinces. Because not all agencies fulfilled the WOB requests, de Winter filed lawsuits against them. The Dutch Association of Journalists (NEY) supported de Winter. An online newspaper (or electronic news or electronic news publication) is the online version of a newspaper, either as a stand-alone publication or as the online version of a printed periodical. Tweakers (formerly called Tweakers.net) is a Dutch technology website featuring news and information about hardware, software, games and the Internet. The name is derived from the verb "tweaking", which is a word geeks use to refer to optimisation of hardware. Tweakers has grown substantially since its conception. Nowadays, it publishes news, reviews, features and video reports about technology subjects, with a strong focus on the Netherlands and Belgium. Tweakers has more features for the computer enthusiast, such as reviews, bi-monthly Best Buy guides, a classifieds section for jobs and used hardware, the Pricewatch and the Shop Survey, among others.
