Weary And Alford Company
Weary and Alford Company was an American architectural firm with partners Edwin Delos Weary and Willam Headley Alford. The firm was known for its design of office buildings and bank buildings and was headquartered in Chicago. The firm also employed Oscar Wenderoth, E. F. Weary, and R. D. Weary. Several buildings designed by the firm are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Weary wrote a letter to a special committee of the U.S. Senate on issues facing the industry and building costs. He also wrote about wartime issues facing the industry in 1917 in ''Town Development'' He also wrote an article touting building bank buildings with the bank one floor above street level to allow for commerce on the ground floor to bring in rent. Weary's brother Frank O. Weary was a prominent architect working out of Akron, Ohio and has several buildings listed on the NRHP. Calhoun County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 134,310. The county seat is Marshall. The county was established on October 19, 1829, and named after John C. Calhoun, who was at the time Vice President under Andrew Jackson, making it one of Michigan's Cabinet counties. The Heritage Tower is a mixed-use commercial and residential building located at 25 West Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was originally built as the Old-Merchants National Bank and Trust Company Building, and designed as an office building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. History In July of 1851 in Battle Creek, Michigan, Loyal Case Kellogg (December 25, 1822-January 30, 1907), who lived at 118 Maple Street(Capital Avenue Northeast) owned a private bank where he swapped due bills and brought buyers and sellers together. At the time, there was not a lot of money to be exchanged in the small village, Kellogg facilitated the use of trading and exchanging of goods and business notes. Davenport Bank And Trust
Davenport Bank and Trust Company was for much of the 20th century the leading bank of the Quad Cities metropolitan area and the surrounding region of eastern Iowa and western Illinois. It was at one time Iowa's largest commercial bank, and the headquarters building has dominated the city's skyline since it was constructed in 1927 at the corner of Third and Main Streets in downtown Davenport, Iowa. It was acquired by Norwest Bank of Minneapolis in 1993 and now operates as part of Wells Fargo following a 1998 merger of the two financial institutions.
