We The South
We the South ( it, Noi Sud, NS), whose complete name is Freedom and Autonomy - We the South ( it, Libertà e Autonomia - Noi Sud), is a regionalist political party in Italy based in the Campania but seeking to represent the whole South. History The party emerged in January 2010 as a split from the Movement for the Autonomies (MpA). MpA, a Sicilian-based regionalist party active all around Southern Italy, had been in coalition, both at national and regional level, with The People of Freedom (PdL), the centre-right party led by Silvio Berlusconi since 2006, but had become critical of him. In December 2009 Raffaele Lombardo, leader of MpA and President of Sicily, had formed his third cabinet including ministers from his MpA party, the PdL–Sicily and the newly formed regional section of Alliance for Italy, plus some independents, including one who was close to the opposition Democratic Party (PD). Antonio Milo (politician)
Antonio Milo (born 5 December 1959 in Agerola) is an Italian politician. Biography In 1995 he was elected for the first time regional councilor in Campania, as member of the CDU (within the Forza Italia list); in 1998 it then passed to the Christian Democratic Centre (CCD), being re-elected with the latter party in the subsequent regional election of 2000. In the 2001 general election he was a candidate for the Chamber of Deputies, on the CCD-CDU list, in the proportional Campania 1 constituency, but he was not elected because the list did not exceed the 4% threshold. The Populars of Italy Tomorrow (''I Popolari di Italia Domani'', PID) was a Christian-democratic political party in Italy whose power base was in Sicily. It is currently affiliated with Forza Italia. PID was launched on 28 September 2010 by five splinter deputies (four from Sicily and one from Campania) of the Union of the Centre (UdC) led by Francesco Saverio Romano, the UdC leader in Sicily. 2010 Campania Regional Election
The Campania regional election of 2010 took place on 28–29 March 2010. The region came out from ten years of undisputed dominance by the centre-left led by Antonio Bassolino ( DS). A former Mayor of Naples and minister, he was re-elected by a landslide 61.6% of the vote in 2005. However, in his second term in office, Bassolino highly disappointed voters and the whole Italy for his bad management of waste and the subsequent crisis. The centre-left filed as candidate Vincenzo De Luca, a fellow Democrat and popular Mayor of Salerno who had been one of the loudest critics of Bassolino from within his coalition, but it was not able to recover. A large round of regional elections in Italy took place on 28–29 March in 13 regions out of 20, including nine of the ten largest ones: Lombardy, Campania, Veneto, Lazio, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Apulia, Tuscany and Calabria.
