Thomas Timothy Vernon-Kell (born 10 May 1981) is an English self-taught multi-instrumentalist musician who works under the name of Tom Vek. Career Born in Hounslow, London, England, he signed to the small label Tummy Touch Records in 2001, having spent the previous eight years writing and recording in his parents' garage. Vek's debut album ''We Have Sound'' was recorded whilst he completed a graphic design degree. The album was finished in mid-2004 but was not released until 2005 when Island Records licensed it through Go! Beat Records. The record was subsequently licensed through Universal Records to Startime International for a North American release. Vek made a guest appearance on the television programme, ''The OC'', where he performed a gig at 'The Bait Shop' venue; the third-season episode 'The Road Warrior' featured his track "I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes". Post-punk revival (also known as garage rock revival,J. Stuessy and S. D. Go! Discs was a London-based record label, launched in 1983 from offices in Wendell Road, Shepherd's Bush, by Andy Macdonald and Lesley Symons. The pair founded the label after Macdonald left his job as press officer at Stiff Records, and Symons provided the seed funding. The first signing to the label was Billy Bragg and early releases also came from Sheffield band The Box and Hull band The Housemartins. Startime International is a record label founded in 2000 by Isaac Green, owned by Sony Music Entertainment, based in New York City, and distributed by Columbia Records. Its roster includes Foster the People, Coin, Natalie Prass, Bully, Made Violent, Lewis Del Mar, and The Big Moon. History Green moved to Brooklyn and out of his apartment started the label, armed with one band, the French Kicks. Startime's first release was the Kick's EP '' Young Lawyer'' in late 2000, and since then the label's roster has grown significantly with bands picked by Green not for their marketability but for sheer talent.
