We, The People
The Preamble to the United States Constitution, beginning with the words We the People, is a brief Preamble, introductory statement of the United States Constitution, Constitution's fundamental purposes and guiding principles. Courts have referred to it as reliable evidence of the Founding Fathers of the United States, Founding Fathers' intentions regarding the Constitution's meaning and what they hoped the Constitution would achieve. The preamble was mainly written by Founding Father Gouverneur Morris, a Pennsylvania delegate to the 1787 Constitutional Convention (United States), Constitutional Convention held at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Text Drafting The Preamble was placed in the Constitution during the last days of the Constitutional Convention (United States), Constitutional Convention by the Committee on Style, which wrote its final draft, with Gouverneur Morris leading the effort. A constitution is the aggregate of fundamental principles or established precedents that constitute the legal basis of a polity, organisation or other type of Legal entity, entity and commonly determine how that entity is to be governed. When these principles are written down into a single document or set of legal documents, those documents may be said to embody a ''written constitution''; if they are encompassed in a single comprehensive document, it is said to embody a ''codified constitution''.
