Waynesboro Historical Society
The Waynesboro Historical Society, Incorporated is an historical society founded in 1963 and based in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. The Society's headquarters are housed in the Oller House. The society works for the preservation of landmarks and structures in the Waynesboro area and holds regular meetings, open to the public, which feature speakers on topics of local interest. Donation of the building J.J. and Myrtle (Funk) Oller eldest child, Rello Oller (1895-1992), never married and in 1990 she leased the house to the Society for U.S. $1.00 a year with the understanding that on her death the property would inure to the Society. She had two younger brothers, both of whom married but had no children. Waynesboro is a borough in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, on the southern border of the state. Waynesboro is in the Cumberland Valley between Hagerstown, Maryland, and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. It is part of Chambersburg, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the Washington–Baltimore metropolitan area. It is 2 miles north of the Mason–Dixon line and close to Camp David and the Raven Rock Mountain Complex. The population within the borough limits was 10,568 at the 2010 census. History and architectural features This historic church building is one of five properties owned by The Waynesboro Historical Society and is available for weddings, funerals and special events. Henry Harbaugh
Henry Harbaugh (October 28, 1817, near Waynesboro, Pennsylvania - December 28, 1867 in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania) was a Pennsylvania Dutch clergyman of the Reformed Church in the United States, German Reformed Church. Biography He taught to obtain means to enter college, and studied at Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, but was unable to finish either a classical or theological course. He was ordained in 1843, and installed as pastor of the German Reformed Church at Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and in 1850 accepted a call to the church at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he remained until he moved to Lebanon, Pennsylvania, in 1860. In 1863, he was appointed by his synod professor of theology at the Mercersburg Seminary. He occupied this chair until his death, which was occasioned by undue mental exertion.
