Wayne L. Martin (born 16 December 1965) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Crystal Palace as a defender. Martin was born in Basildon, UK and began his youth career with Crystal Palace signing professional terms in July 1982. His sole appearance for the club was on 11 December 1983, in a home 1–2 defeat to Carlisle United. Basildon ( ) is the largest town in the borough of Basildon, within the county of Essex, England. It has a population of 107,123. In 1931 the parish had a population of 1159. It lies east of Central London, south of the city of Chelmsford and west of Southend-on-Sea. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril.
