Waylon Brown
Waylon Brown (born July 13, 1979) is the Iowa State Senator from the Iowa Senate, District 26, 26th District. A Republican Party (United States), Republican, he has served in the Iowa Senate since defeating incumbent Mary Jo Wilhelm in 2016. Brown is a farmer and a small businessman who owns a construction company, also serving as the Vice President of the Mitchell County, Iowa Farm Bureau Board. He currently resides in Le Claire, Iowa, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with his wife Julie and two children. As of February 2020, Brown serves on the following committees: Transportation (Vice Chair), Agriculture, Commerce, Labor and Business Relations, and Ways and Means. Mary Jo Wilhelm
Mary Jo Wilhelm (born 1955) is a former Iowa State Senator who represented the 26th District. A Democrat, she served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2017. She has been a Certified Residential Appraiser since 2000, and is the founder and owner of Wilhelm Appraisers. Wilhelm currently serves on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Economic Growth committee; the Education committee; the Environment & Energy Independence committee; the Human Resources committee; and the Ways and Means committee. She also serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee. Her prior political experience includes serving on the Howard County Board of Supervisors. The Iowa Senate is the upper house of the Iowa General Assembly, United States. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, . Each Senate district is composed of two House districts. The Senate meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines.
