Wave 105 is an Independent Regional Radio station based in Fareham, England, owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to South Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, West Sussex and Wiltshire, and until September 2022 could also received in parts of Dorset on FM. As of September 2022, the station has a weekly audience of 380,000 listeners according to RAJAR. History Based in a studio complex at Segensworth East, on the outskirts of Fareham, the station broadcasts on 105.2 MHz (South Hampshire, Isle of Wight, West Sussex, East Dorset and Wiltshire), as well as on DAB digital radio via the South Hampshire and Bournemouth local multiplexes, and online. Fareham
Fareham ( ) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in south east Hampshire, England. It gives its name to the Borough of Fareham. It was historically an important manufacturer of bricks, used to build the Royal Albert Hall, and grower of strawberries and other seasonal fruits. Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH) was a Scottish media company which owned 22 radio stations, and around 30 local newspapers in the United Kingdom and Ireland. History SRH had its origins in the 1970s when Glasgow was awarded the third licence for a commercial station in the UK. As a result, in 1973 Radio Clyde began broadcasting. Unlike the two existing commercial stations (both in London), Radio Clyde was an immediate success. This was helped in part by strong financial backers that included Sean Connery and Jackie Stewart. In 1991 laws controlling the ownership of commercial stations were relaxed. Clyde merged with Radio Forth to form SRH and immediately floated on the London Stock Exchange. Kelvin Calder MacKenzie (born 22 October 1946) is an English media executive and a former newspaper editor. He became editor of '' The Sun'' in 1981, by which time the publication was established as Britain's largest circulation newspaper. The Radio Partnership
The Radio Partnership was a media company which operated radio stations in the UK. About Initially, the Metro Radio Group which owned TFM, Metro FM and Great North Radio, bought Viking FM, Hallam FM, Pennine FM (later rebranded as The Pulse) and Classic Gold (later rebranded Great Yorkshire Radio, then Great Yorkshire Gold) was acquired by East Midland Allied Press in 1996. Ownership rules meant that because they owned Radio Aire in an overlapping area, one of the stations had to be sold, and that was The Pulse and its AM sister station which were purchased in a management buyout from senior staff and ex-Metro Group executives for £4.6m. Under the new company, called The Radio Partnership, became number one in the West Yorkshire radio market for the first time in its history.
